Steemit dollar valuation estimate is incorrect

in steemit •  8 years ago

Please keep this post at the top since I suspect that others are also having issues with this. I had a friend who sent 3 bitcoins to buy steam power. Those three bitcoins ( 3*650BTCUSD) are worth $1950 dollars.

When he looked at the balance as depicted on the wallet screen. Something is wrong and it's not calculating it properly. I am at a loss in trying to explain this to him. So it's either that or he just lost $900 worth of value buying steem power. Does anybody have an explanation for this? I think a lot of people buying steempower with bitcoins are having this issue.

7 day moving average to prevent market manipulation

Full $TEEM ahead

same here

I was wondering the same Dam thing, except that I haven't had to time to read about it until seeing this. Someone with some brains please let us know. thanks.

that price is the estimated price at current market value (it uses aggregators I believe) - has the value dropped since he bought his Steem?

It is clearly not estimated based on current market value. If it was then, the current market value ( 4*1660) =6640 dollars. Something about this is not making sense. It's also not based on 7 day moving average because , in the last 4 days the price has been more than 2 dollars, so let's assume 9 /7 = >1.28. The 7 day moving average is definitely greater than 1. So by that calculation, this number should have been at least 1 x 1660 = 1660. So again, none of these explanations here are making any sense. So there is another true answer. Find out what the reason is behind this guys.
