Could Steemit take the lead over reddit in the online forum market? You can make money for good posts on SteemIt. However, Reddit has a way bigger community and it's platform blows Steemit's out of the water. There is less hate because everyone wants to get up votes on here which causes a lot of fake chatter vs trolls of regular forums. Steemit needs a big upgrade and growth but this is the beginning and I use reddit and Steemit and normally post the same stuff on each. Reddit has the edge now because of its community that provide great content and info.
