Outta The Shell

Before Steemit, I never really got into social media. I mean isn't the idea to be umm... social? Many of you see me writing and posting videos but the truth is that you all see me in my more extroverted mode. Usually I am pretty chill and introverted. I am that by default. But when I got on Steemit I forced myself to open up and explore a new realm. It wasn't easy for me at first but now it's nothing to me. Many people come to Steemit and are afraid to post for many reasons but many times I believe it is rooted in simply being afraid to get out of the shell or how others will receive what you have to say.

In this video I wanted to go more in depth about overcoming some of the social media fears and share more about my journey in the social media space. Anyone who knows me know that I prefer to be a little hermit in my own world. So if I can get out of my comfort zone then I know there are tons of others who can do the same. They just need the proper motivation and encouragement. Hopefully this can help you if you are afraid to post content on social media. Peace to the world.

Have you gotten over your social media fears?

Are you usually more introverted or extroverted?

A lot of people don't express themselves like they should because they are constantly bothered about or fear what people will say or think.

Fuck that! Say what you have to say, do what you got to do as long as you hurting nobody.

Say your mind, be more expressive whether you are introvert or extrovert. That's is the way great way to live, and not in the shell.

Mask off!!!! I agree.

@humanearl, I've already used FB, Whatsapp and viber before when i came to the steemit. But I compare all social medias, lot of opportunities given only steemit media platform. Those days I wasted time much with video watching and chatting with all round friends. No I feel it's very lies. Why peoples wasted time for unsuccessful tasks. But I understood something. It's When creating a social media strategy you need to tap into your why, understand what you are using social media for, who are your audience and what do they need? Making sure to create excellent content and building in self care tactics, will increase your self confidence and your success. One of the major things I see in hesitating to use social media for business, is a a lack of confidence in your ideas. This is a normal part of life for lots of people, and particularly if you work in your own business. Have a best weekend.

I love to hear what you have to say. There's tons of truth in this.

Woah! I really connect with this one. Actually, i'm still not much of the social media kind till now, i never used to think people would understand what i had to say the way i wanted them to, so i'd write but never upload, or if i did, it'll just be a little part of the real piece. If i say steemit has done too much for me now, it's not an exaggeration, i know exactly what i'm saying. Now i'm different shades of expressions because i crawled out of the box, and if i don't upload, it's because i don't want to, not for fear of anything. It's a beautiful feeling every locked up person should try out.

I love my space, and like i wrote recently, i'm a bad introvert, but one with style now, the other negative attributes of an introvert are no longer there... You've made me say what i never would otherwise...lol... Thanks @humanearl.

There's so many jewels you have to share. I just know it. I can tell by the way you write. Unleash them.

Sure thing. Thank you.

Goodday @humanearl! Thank you for another wonderful post today!

With the way you post and make videos everyday, many would feel you have always been the extroverted type. I was really seeing this;

Many of you see me writing and posting videos but the truth is that you all see me in my more extroverted mode. Usually I am pretty chill and introverted. I am that by default.

Its amazing how one can change with time. Its really nice. Steemit is really a life changing platform and I am happy we found it.

• Have you gotten over your social media fears?

Well, I have never had that kind of fear on any social media tho. Except on steemit and I find it hard to post not because i dont have what to post but because of the lack of encouragement most times. You should know what I mean. I still lack visibility and its so sad spending hours making posts and not getting people to read them. I gueess thats whats restraining me from posting always. May God help me.

• Are you usually more introverted or extroverted?

I am usually more extroverted, its in my DNA.
😇

THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY @humanearl. Shalom!✌

Yea I think the fear of posting on steemit is also there. Sometimes you might have something to post but you will be scared as to weather it will be accepted (upvoted) by others or will it just be another waste of time and energy...now that I think about it, I think this is the only social media fear I would say I have.

We are on the same boat bro. If thats the case.

I think posting for hours only to get little feedback is tough to deal with. I say post anyway because all those little pieces of steem will add up one day into a much bigger investment. It may not pay off now but there's a good chance it will in the future.

Great to have you back. Like you I am not a writer but writing from your heart is a way to connect with people.

Whatever happens in June or whenever, I'm sure you will be alright.

You have everything locked down, you write frm your heart and you have a great relationships building skill.

The only way for you is up, man!

Wow. This is a priceless comment @moniristi.

before steemit i didn't use social networks that much, i was also a introvert, but after making myself post on steemit i've become more extrovert, or maybe it had something to do with some problems i had in my life... really don't know, i know that steemit has made my life a whole lot better, having a place to express my opinions without the fear of being judged.
For those that are afraid of posting, don't be, we live in a vast vast world, full of ppl with different likes, maybe x and y won't like what you post, but i bet c and b will like it, we can't please everyone, so just please yourself, because at the end of the day, the only person you can count on at 110% is yourself!

Love this! Thanks for being open about where you were and are. But now is an opportunity to discover new levels of yourself you didn't know existed.

@humanearl sir...
What can I do to get over my fear of posting on social media?

Your insecurities and fear of public reaction are not mutually exclusive. You are afraid of how others will react because you are not confident in your roots. And that’s perfectly normal, not many of us are.

As many people here have already stated that this question might be your first step towards overcoming your fear. You need to understand that people online are similar to ones around you. Some are crappy, some sincere. But there is a difference. Social media gives power to these people to sometimes make nonsensical comments. But you need not worry. There will always be some good ones to understand your efforts.

Believe in yourself and don’t pay much attention to the reactions of others, because half the time people who make a lot of fuss are the biggest hypocrites you will ever know.

As is rightly said , Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until its faced.

Face your fear. Start sharing your beliefs.People will undermine you but don’t let others deter you from your choices and ideologies. Keep believing in yourself and simultaneously be open to immense knowledge others may have to offer you..But never ever let anyone else’s thoughts/actions pull you down.

Happy posting....Happy steeming...
Cheers~~~

Believing in yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do. You must get out of the shell and share yourself with the world. This was a great comment. Thanks for this.

In real life I’m an extrovert. The biggest hurdle I needed to jump was fear of a new medium and my ability to be myself on it. Thanks to you, @humanearl, @valorforfreedom, and @hopehuggs; I have learned so much and found my niche that is an expression of me.

Thank you very much EH!

I remember when you first told me about testing the waters. Glad you did!

I still don't post anything personal here on steemit or any social media. Maybe there are few posts about myself or something personal that I've shared. You can count it on one hand. I'm trying to change that and be more open.

It does take some time to open up for tons of people. Don't feel bad though just keep exploring yourself and sharing your life. You have much to offer.

Yes. Thank you. 😊

I am an introvert person, I keep more on myself than sharing to others, but when I joined christian community I am more on exploring things and sharing things things within me litlle by little. And meeting steemit is like woahhh!! I think I can give more😄

You did a great job in finding like minded people. I'm thinking of doing a post about my theories on why people leave Steemit. I think one of the reasons is because they fail to find like minded people who can encourage and motivate them.

Yes indeed, because sometimes those who usually leave steemit are those unnoticed that they lost hope and can't get over the negativity they feel. Instead they should explore and interact to those who can strengthen and motivate them.

Naturally I'm an introvert and writing helps me to express more easily online. I can be more extroverted. It always depends on a situation and other people :) Getting over my fears is an ongoing process.. I'm always growing and getting further.. My next step is making videos! When there's both fear and excitement, that's how I know it's the way to go :) Thank you for your heartwarming encouragment!

Cool go for the videos! Keep unlocking levels of yourself. You gain more confidence.

Thank you! I started today and only just watching myself helped me gain a new perspective.. Looking at myself as if from the outside made me see myself in a better light. More self-love, more confidence 💓

I want to make some videos too. Starting with getting back to my guitar ones lol I hate talking into a camera, especially if I'm not with other people I just feel SO awkward...

Yes it definitely feels awkward :D but it's getting less and less with each try :)

That one of the issue I am still have here on steemit and social media site, I don't know how to socialize, I have been in some groups on whatsapp, telegram and discord, I read messages and don't know what to start chatting about. I'm really find a way to improve on it. Steemit is blog⏩ socialize⏩ earn and the socialize at the middle is so important, it is that brings the visibility of your blog that make you to earn

I used to be the same way. Don;t feel bad though. It takes time figuring out how to actually carry a convo with people. I am usually very quiet in general but I have learned how to carry conversations on social media now. Just give it time and keep trying.

Well buddy that same habit goes for me .Over the years I became kind of introvert but I guess this community helped me a lot to get over that issue ,while I do really hope in the coming days it will change even more !

Will look out for your advice's in the video buddy !

Steemit will do that to you. haha

lolz that I agree ;)

Another smart discussion by @humanearl sir...
Here Are Some Tips To Overcoming The Fear Of Putting Yourself Out There On Social Media

  1. Create A Strategy For Your Content
Randomly posting things all over social media may be fine for a personal account, but for a business, you need to have a clear strategy in place for when you post, why you are posting, what your are posting, who you are posting to, and who you would like to post to. Part of that may be to post some on the spot content - not everything has to be premeditated, and some of the best content happens on the move, in real time. Tweets at events, Instagram pics while you are wandering the streets in a new town, a Facebook post after you find out a really helpful piece of research that will help your community. However it should still fit with your overall brand message and plan, and be of relevance to your audience.

  2. Remember It Is Not About You
An Instagram or Facebook account that is just for your weekend shots, the kids first day at school and your regular running times, is lovely for your friends and family. It is also fine to drop in some more personal posts that allow followers to get to know you and the person behind the brand on your business accounts and in fact is a great part of a solid strategy - but continually sharing these kinds of posts is not appropriate for a business account. If you remember it is not about you, it makes it easier to put your content out on social media. Because really you are putting out ideas, information and opportunities to help your target audience. Refocusing this helps because there is far less risk for you as an individual, as long as you have a clear strategy in place.

Shift your focus from you to your audience when it comes to your social content

  1. Use The Block And Delete Functions
Anything that happens on social media can be filtered. As the account owner you have the power. On a blog you can approve comments. On your social channels you can delete comments and people, and totally block them where needed. You do not owe them an explanation. This is as much about protecting the experience of other members of your community, as it is about protecting yourself.

Wel done and perfect work sir...
Cheers~~~

Love #2. I am constantly trying to come up with content that helps someone else in one way or another.

Thanks for this @humanearl...

Initially when I joined steemit, I used to have the phobia of posting personal stuff or experiences online...
The "introvert" in me was holding me down...

But thanks to amazing friends around me who encouraged me and pushed out the "extrovert" in me... Lol....

Now I'm so comfortable posting contents online... It's so much fun for me..

Ayye! I say just jump. You unlock new levels of yourself you hadn't discovered before. Thanks for sharing.

Hahahaaa..... Oh yeeesssssss

Im sure jumping out... No more holding back with fear..

Ummm well funny enough I am a chronic Introvert but a very big extrovert on social media.

As an Introvert, I speak more in my mind that I speak with my mouth . Not because I don't like to talk but most if the times I don't know what to say. I am always very careful of my words so as not to hurt the next person and it has always been my Bane. So the fear of saying the wrong things in reality has been my problem and not my problem at all on social media since I know I can't see the next person or the readers unless I know them in person . Maybe that's the reason I am still single and havnt been able to get a good girl for myself ...lolzz

Trust me man there's a great woman out there waiting for a guy like you. Keep searching.

I think it would be better for Steemit and your channel to post your videos here at first and after 4-5 hours to DTube, so they'll get more attendance here..

Ahhh I see what you're saying. So upload a video in the format of youtube etc to my steemit first and then to Dtube.

It could be a good idea but wouldn't that be repetitive as far as content goes?

Nothing to it but to do it...

Hopefully in time I can grow as well.

~ Thanks for the share

I hope so too. I want to see other people do well.

I think Steemit changes everything for me about social media. Don't get me wrong am an extroverted person but not on social media. I don't know how it happens with Steemit but a lot of change about me here and my engagement level have increased quite high.

Man I can say the same. After being on Steemit I have opened a new door to myself.

No fear on being on a decentralised platform because you can raise and shape up your voice here to be in short :)

Yepp anyone can do it.

I've used some social media but after I met steemit, I became comfortable here and I always use it ..

I would say the same. I never enjoyed social media till Steemit came along.

We think the same, hopefully steemit will continue to grow,
