Misfortunes We Encountered in Promoting Steemit in our University

Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle.

Promoting Steemit especially in universities is not a difficult job. When you talk about its platform, an incentivized social media blogging platform - students will really get hooked to it. Backed by your withdrawals and your posts rewards, the probability of persuading them to join is very high, and this had happened during our campaign in our University in promoting Steemit.

I see Steemit as a very influencial platform for Students because of the services it offers.

  • A social media platform where they can post their ideas, photos, travels, and anything they wanted to post (Except for Child Pornography and any forms of violence)
  • A place where they learn a lot of things
  • Better community. Steemit is in fact the best community that I ever witnessed!
  • And most especially - an incentivize blogging platform. This is the most helpful part for students, Steemit helps in supporting students' financial needs out of their time, effort, and their ideas.

BUT.....

Everything is not perfectly tuned, and everything seems well according to what is expected

Though I saw the campaigns we handled are a huge success (we had three successful campaigns), a lot of misfortunes we had encountered making it unfortunate for us at some point. Facing Security guard, University personnel, and especially with our Dean (College of Engineering) made the campaign even more challenging.

Our Misfortunes

  • Dean was angry, Thanks to a beautiful lady

During our 2nd University campaign, there were three individuals who are not students from our university but from other campus. These individuals were named here as @marysent, @ditz, and @tsukikei based on the attendance logsheet.

They were stopped by security personnel, indicating that their wasn't any seminar reserved about Steemit and that they received no notifications about it - which is true. The campaign is set for university students and that no letter of request has been made - because it will be automatically denied. Security guards then called our beloved Dean about the said entrance of outside university students, also opening that they were not informed about the Steemit campaign - which made the Dean shocked and angry.

Our dean talked to me, I felt he was angry. He mentioned that the thing I did was bad. I should've informed him about it, and that to invite students from other universities must be done in due process. He expressed his dismay. I admit the move was bad, but considering a limited span of time and with my experience working with letter requests (I was a President in one of the organizations in our university before), it is impractical to do that thing. It is technically useless.

Luckily, I have a friend @marygod, a lovely lady who also joined Steemit approach the dean with her charismatic smile and ask for apology for what had happened. She also instilled that this will not happen again and requests will be made prior to the campaign - Dean was hyped, and were okay about it!, so problem solved.

  • Too much school works, Pressure is difficult to handle

With our current standing now, as 5th year Electronics Engineering student - everything is in pressure. Thesis, assignments, Midterm exams fast approaching, and projects on each subject (Pulse Amplitude Modulation, Power Supply, Walkie Talkie, and etc), this semester is so much bloody.

But Steemit is a way of life, and this can't stop our vision in promoting this platform in our university. With the support of @donkeypong, we were able to set up those events despite of the pressure. Luckily it was a success. Their smiles and excitement in joining the platform is so much fulfilling to our part. The community is really growing fast!

By the end of August, I will make a blog that features all users recruited from our campaign. Also, the users who were recruited by the members we recruited during our campaign <3
  • Everything seemed disoriented at first, but were perfect at last

In every start of the campaign that we had, everything is really disoriented at first - to the point that I began sweating, an indication of pressure. This is because the expected outcome was not the initial outcome we expected. Like for example, the start time is delayed, moderators get bored, and we need to leave the room, look for another room an hour after.

But at the start of the presentation, I am happy that it went well - Thank God. According to their feedback, they understood the platform and that they appreciate the efforts that we've done. Also, I sent them each the powerpoint presentation I used for them to understand more when they review the Presentation.

I recently made a blog explaining Steemit to interested individuals who wanted to ask the concept of Steemit. So, whenever a person asks about the platform, instead of walking him through answering his questions, I just sent them the blog. If they have questions, that is the time I'll walk them through. Here is the link :

  • Campaign budget exhausted

With the campaigns that we had, Printing 12+52 Shirts, Steemit Flyers, Plackards, Budget Limited snacks - the cost is too much. With that, I really thanked @donkeypong a lot for supporting the initiative. He provided much of the budget, so much! I just added a portion of my earnings to compensate the lacking.

It also takes so much time and effort in preparing those materials. I normally do the work for that - and budgetting seems to be an important aspect in maximizing our budget.

So Hey! Thanks for always dropping by!

In next weeks, the campaign promotion will resume! Last week and this week is so much bloody in School. Hopefully next week, we can set up a lot of events - with your help!

Thanks for dropping by!

Sincerely,

@jassennessaj

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by JassennessaJ from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews/crimsonclad, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows and creating a social network. Please find us in the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.

I'll sure seek to leverage on your experience because I plan to evangelize the university campus in my hometown once I get there and settle in a couple weeks. Great work.

If it really was meant to be, it will be. No matter what the circumstances are.

Good Luck on your journey! 😊
