Which websites or apps will Steemit kill?

in steemit •  7 years ago  (edited)

I've seen some posts about how people are shifting away from other social media sites and spending more of their time on Steemit. I know personally there are websites and apps I am done with now that I use Steemit. What has this site killed for you personally? What do you think it could really do some damage to at a higher level?

Here are my thoughts, leave yours in the comments!

Foap -

You give the app access to your photos, the community grades them, and then you have a small chance of getting rewards for their use or even smaller odds of winning themed competitions sponsored by advertisers.
Why use Foap when most decent photos posted here are guaranteed some non-zero level of support and great photos can get over $1,000! (Keep in mind the typical payout for Foap is like $5, with some competitions going to $200 or so.)

Medium -

I find the writing experience here to be very similar in quality to that at Medium with the added benefit that Steemit pays! While the average quality of the content at Medium is currently better in my opinion, it may just be a matter of time. I will still follow some accounts at Medium, but they tend to be ones that used to have independent websites that I followed before.

I will add more to this list as I notice dust gathering on their icons on my phone!

With improvements along the way, I think it would be able to take on more social media like Instagram.

The current steemit is still not as user friendly as Facebook but once it gets to the same level of usabillity, we might see an influx of users comming.

Agreed!

Yes, and we've waited for over a year now to get some substantial improvement in how the site itself looks.

With Synereo launching open beta of Qrator, I think there are going to be some challenges ahead...

Competition gives people the motivation to improve. We might need a rival to move forward 😀

That might be exactly the case!

Thankfully we've already got some developers working on competing user interfaces, such as Busy.org and beta.chainbb. We'll see how Qrator affects things...

@johnniec nice

So much time wasted on these other apps right? I nixed FB a couple years back and after having found Steemit and The8App there weren't Instagram and Wordpress haha
Great post!

Thanks! I will have to check out The8App

I think you'll like it. Use the Steemit hashtag and other members will follow you. You get ad sponsors on there as well so you make a little cash. Steepshot is another one, based on this community but there are no earnings so it's basically just another IG. Add me on 8app I go by the same screen name. Cheers!

if they don't change...facebook will be killed by steemit for sure

Foap is Trash !

its doomed anyways.

Probably true. I was excited about it for about a day and then uninstalled it within a week.

The only site that is legit is Shutterstock but they pay pennies. $0.25 per download to hand out a license of your photograph.

They killed Photography.

Well, Steemit is here to Kill all those who undervalue the work of creative people.

I hope I can say to twitter, instargram and facebook RIP!!!

I started more time in Steemit !
