A Very Frustrating Day

Hey everyone! So Windows 10 has screwed me again!

I had shut off updates a while ago, but despite that, my computer decided to shut off by itself and update without my permission.

So although I had a ton of work to do today, looks like I have twice as much tomorrow because the update literally took ALL DAY!

This black screen with a spinning circle was stuck for 4 hours alone...

Now that the update is finished, a bunch of my programs stopped working and everything is incredibly slow.

My Skype call recorder which I use for interviews appears to have stopped working as well. I got this exact same message in 2016 before the Skype recorder on my older computer stopped working following a Windows update that happened without my consent. One of the many reasons I bought an incredibly expensive new computer last year and had it shipped in. Well it looks like Deja Vu all over again. So I'm not entirely sure if I'll be able to do any Skype interviews soon.

I'm trying to keep calm about it, but it also kept me off Steemit and DTube most of today and stopped me from doing any of my trading on Bittrex or editing the many videos I have backed up that I need to get up.

So my apologies for being away most of today, I didn't want to be.

Stay tuned though! Still got a lot of videos coming your way! Will just have to wait until tomorrow to post them!

Ah man, fuck windows 8, 8.1 and 10 and the Blue Screen of Death - fucking garbage.

I nearly had a complete meltdown last summer when Windows kept crashing while I was working on my MA. It was infuriating. I was using 8.1, but windows 10 was installed without my permission several times.

People couldn't understand why I was upset about getting a FREE upgrade to a newer version. Seriously, IT'S NOT FREE - IT'S SPYWARE.

Anyways, I feel your pain
I switched to MAC (at least it doesn't crash) but am looking at a Linux.

had bsod for 6 months and then my pc wont even boot, throught it was windows fault too, turns out the nvidia updates were at fault, past few years they have been fucking up a lot of ppl's graphics cards, never updating again, turned off my windows updates too.

lol Yeah, Windows 10 is absolute trash. 8.1 was way better.
Man, I'd go for Vista or XP over this if it was faster. Technology has "enhanced" to our detriment.

It reminds me of 2001 Space Odyssey.

Man discovers tool. Man innovates with tool. Tool replaces man. Tool enslaves man. Man must break free.

Maybe a vague reference. Just rewatched the film and it's fresh on my mind. lol

I'll be the one to bite and advocate Linux here -- I pick what and when for updates, no spyware, no computer taking control from me with stupid popups and ads in the start menu, no license to accept that bounds my mouth to their micro soft dick, and I've made this system work with my flow almost completely. Getting better and better guys, find that right OS and your programs and you'll be on another level.

Sorry to hear about this ☹️ On a side note, I really enjoyed your interview with David Morgan!

Thank you :)

Bill Gates doesn't want you to get the truth out there :) Seriously, sorry about the laptop issues.

LOL Yeah, he's not a big fan of me. :P

You should try Linux. You don't have to deal with that BS.

Windows is garbage. It always has been, but in recent years it's actually getting worse. Anytime I get a new computer, the first thing I do is install a Linux-based OS, right over the top of windows. https://www.ubuntu.com/download

The solution is to buy a new computer with high-end features to avoid this problem
Happy day and good luck

Spent thousands on this computer. Very high end. Still a bunch of problems.

i liked in your post sir may be i reasteam your post sir

I tell people to use a Macbook Pro and run Windows in a Virtual Machine.
Then you can run all PC and MAc apps and you have an easily recovered Win10 environment and you can run Mac apps too, AND you have the best PC hardware (A MAC!)

Macbook Pro on Amazon is not very expensive used.
I just purchased a 1 TB SSD i7 Macbook Retina for less than $2000 USD.

Sorry about that

Man that sucks hopefully you can get back on all your things soon and get it all done its so stupid that these windows updates take hours its just ridiculous!!!

its fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed lessons of failure!! > @joshsigurdson

Windows... what a pain in the ass company.

Sorry to hear, windows can be a real pain. Hope you get things sorted out and caught up!

now, artificial intelligence is taking over. they don't even need permission to perform a task. automation is now here.

Disable "reboot parameters"

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Meltdown and Spectre flaws found in cpus.

I don't think so, after all Windows was installing the latest updates, I suppose that was included in it the security patch what solves these flaws

do not ever give up what we do while we are able, good luck comrades @joshsigurdson
