Are Whales Powering Down?

The data says yes! If you look at the data, it shows that 27 of the top 50 whales and 8 of the top 10 are powering down over the course of the next 7 days.

Here is the raw data put into a nice table for us by @bitcoiner

Is this a bad thing?

Not really. As you have read from the white pages there are limits to the amount that can be powered down each week. As long as the site keeps growing this should be a non issue.

It is still nice to be able to see the data for yourself though. Click the link below for the latest whale watching info:

Agree, transparency is good but let them power down and realize some profit from their investment. We all are working to make that list one day so keep on blogging, commenting , inviting friends and upvoting!

Thanks for covering my tool! Check out the original post for some discussion https://steemit.com/steem/@bitcoiner/steemdown-com-which-whales-are-powering-down

Thanks for creating this! It really is a nice source of information to have...

One poster posted how some of the bigger whales are simply transferring steem to other accounts they own... essentially creating other whales... any thoughts on it?

To me that sounds like splitting the large whale to make smaller whales, so maybe the effect will stay the same haha.

Also I should have mentioned you in my post... I didn't even realize who the creator was at the time... I will edit to include you though ;)

No worries!

The only reason to power down is to take profits, as they are forsaking the compound interest if they are just holding the STEEM in their wallet.
The market will feel it as they continue. Short term wait and see, there needs to be people who want to power up with that STEEM or account values will fall

I plan on powering up... at least a little... it makes sense to get your steem power to the point you can make money by curation... after that maybe just take profits as they are

Transparency is a bitch, look where they are powering down to. A variety of different account names, what is that about. Is it just the appearance of powering down? There has been no talk or discussion on bringing the minnow vote to be weighted any higher. Still around 0.001. So my fellow adventurer, I see and recognize your hard work, I will give you my worthless upvote. Sorry it did not even garnish a penny.

What do you mean by "Look where they are powering down to?"

transferring that steem power to a lesser known account. It is visible, you can look at anyone's wallet, unfortunately the history on transactions is very short. Don't know if it would still appear. Read a great article on it yesterday, where this was exposed. Unfortunately again, very few of us are actually getting read.

Any idea where you read that article? I'd like to read it as well...

looking, havent found but will continue my search, he used the account named smooth as his example proving his point. Here you can see varying accounts such as smooth_a, smooth_b, smooth_c, smooth_d, smooth_e and so forth. https://steemit.com/@smooth-d/transfers
