Montessori Schools in New York accepting Bitcoin for children's tuition
This month Marco Ciocca, co-founder of Montessori schools in New York City will be accepting bitcoin for parents who pay their children's tuition. A Montessori education created by the Italian educator Maria Montessori promotes independence and freedom within limits. Montessori in NYC has classrooms in the Flatiron and Soho districts and costs about $ 30,950 for a full program. "We saw the pros and cons of accepting and decided that now is probably a good time to accept it and is reaching a massive point," Ciocca told Town & Country. "We happen to be the first pre-kindergarten to accept it as a form of payment." According to Ciocca, and a "handful" of parents who have used the digital currency to pay tuition until now. When asked what they thought bitcoin was associated with illegal activities Ciocca said, "We are a school, which is respectable and obviously deals with children."
In recent years, there have been many recognized colleges and universities around the world that have started accepting bitcoin. As well as paying for a higher education with bitcoin, now people can use the decentralized currency in private day care centers and schools that offer an education to children such as Montessori schools.
