Do you ever resist upvoting out of envy?

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

I was having an honest debate with myself over the resistance to vote on top posts. I overcame this resistance, and voted... However, I was struck by a feeling that the conflict within me was of a significance that I cannot yet articulate.

Why did I hesitate to vote? Was I jealous?

Can you relate?

I know that feeling. It last for moment, then its gone. lol

I can totally relate, on one hand, posts that are already popular give you marginal profit and on the other, it's not like they need more success. Maybe there is a sense of jealousy now that you mention it.

the NEW posts and not the TRENDING posts should be the default landing tab

I agree. this is where I spend my time.

That may encourage bots to spam posts on repeat, however, I agree with the fact that there needs to be some way to prevent 19 posts from very effectively burying 4168.

There is a lot of great content that goes unnoticed because everyone is mobbing the top 10 posts. Such is the nature of popularity - and all who seek great works of art. Often, the greatest masterpieces are not discovered, truly, until their creator has moved on.

I just like the fact that you allow yourself to debate.... Well, yourself.
