I've been on Steemit for over a year now, And I've been annoying my family like crazy to join Steemit. Finally, it's starting to happen.
My brother's girlfriend Trisha Who is @Treeshaface joined first.
I Was surprised how open and excited she was about Steemit!
I also got @lauralemons To join! She's easily the most active person I got on here! Laura Is a long time internet friend that I've had. We met each other online through our art!
My sister joined a while ago But hasn't written yet, unfortunately. She's scared to start writing (Perfectionism at play!)
My Brothers Best Friend Scott also joined. His username is @sjensen
My Brother Wrote His Intro Post Today!

I am trying to get them to post more! But it's amazing getting some of my old school pals, Fellow coloring book artists, And colorists all to join Steemit!

There are other people as well, But I don't have their usernames. Sometimes they don't ask for my vote Or send me their posts. So It's hard to know exactly how many people joined from my relentless posting on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. As well as mentioning Steemit On Instagram.
The Hardest Part
I'm finding that it's really hard for Steemit to "Stick" on people. I get people to sign up, And they don't write, Or they only write a couple of posts.
The whole blogging thing seems intimidating for them. Which hopefully we can figure out a way to make it less scary? I'm still promoting Steemit in everyway that I can! Hopefully I can later get hundreds or thousands of people to join later on.
Everytime I post, I still get a little nervous. I'm afraid something in my post won't sit right with people, That I may mess up my words and write something offensive. I feel like that fear resides with many of us here on Steemit, But we have to ignore it and take the risk. Luckily Steemit has the nicest community ever! I feel like so many of us are understanding and down to earth! I wish people weren't so afraid to post!

You can create a new group to support each other so they would at least have one post a day.
Like you said, some of them didnt even ask your vote or help. Maybe they dont really start it yet.
You could gather them all like a tiny steemfest on the weekend and motivate them by voting each other for starter.

This is all fantastic news! I have an idea for you and yours.
I played with the Steepshot phone app one day. Since I'm far from being a woman of few words, I found the app frustrating because it only posts one photo and the Title field. And I used the Commenting section to my advantage.
Today I saw someone post a title that was more like an informational tweet when he used Steepshot.
Soooo it might serve as a gateway app to help your more shy friends and family,

To me, it seems Steemit.com can be persnickety about displaying jpg as thumbs. I've taken to using an image converter app also. There's several available.
The app I have also allows me to reduce the image size and do quick, fast crop and rotate.
I use the converter for all posting from the cell phone, actually.

Good for you. The more people we get on here that can post the better. I guess it is scary for beginners to post. I know I was. Then I let my cousin read what I been posting and she really liked it. I've got a few friends who joined ... did 1 or 2 posts ... got caught by Cheetah (lol) and went back to Facebook because they didn't place the efforts of engaging. Congratulations on hitting Level 73 :) The only other platform I see this being similar to is YouNow (I use that for livestreaming). The first 30 levels were easy, and then level 40+ became so difficult. Here it's like once you get to the 60s I'm guessing it takes an insane amount of rep from whales to move up. But that's good! 73 will definitely help out. Also fantastic to get family to join, the word of mouth is helping the app and everybody big time. I'm excited for the community to hit 1m+ next year!

Great post! I feel you in a way... sometimes takes time for our friends and fam to realize the potential of Steemit. At the beginning they might see it as just another social media, and pay little to no attention. But persistency gives the sweetest fruits. I kept telling over and over again, look this community really is awesome, no haters, no aggression... just pure kindness.

I tell people about it and tell them to sign up, I first got my god mother to sign up, she has only commented and resteemed so far she goes by @ainsleyjo1952 got my husband (@tecnoblast) to sign up the other day working on my kids. My oldest signed up but is waiting to get approved. I am sure I am getting annoying about it but I don't care. I love this site, and if you got time for Facebook you got time for steemit.

Good for you, that's awesome! I've been on steemit for like 10 or so days now and I love it and find it's a bit addictive even....lol. I've also been encouraging everyone I know to join and got one person to so far. My mom said she's going to join too but hasn't yet. Everyone that I've talked to about it has never heard of it before and has a bit of trouble understanding how it works and the tie in to steem/cryptos.
I myself don't have the fear that what I write won't be liked or will be offensive or anything like that but I know that it can be hard for a new person to get visibility so it could be easy to get discouraged if you put a lot of time and effort into a post and then you feel like nobody saw it/nobody upvoted it.
That may be part of the reason why when new people join, they're engaged at first but then they just kind of peter out and quit. That's a hard thing to change though because I'm pretty sure most people on here go through that.
It's good when there's encouragement on here though. They may be part of the solution to help people stay engaged and stick around longer after the initial excitement and exuberance wears off and then people start realizing that this takes work and consistency and they likely won't get the amount of attention that they were hoping for/expecting...at least at first anyways.

I find the same problem you do with getting Steemit to "stick" with people, I have had several sign up so far, but they haven't been active at all. The best comparison I have tried to give people for starting to blog on Steemit is, that it is like getting into a swimming pool. The water is cold at first so you don't want to go all the way in, but once you are completely in you never want to get out!

It is hard as of late. I make what I think is a great post and it does not get seen very much and not voted on. I had a feeling that I might go through something like this. I say this not to complain, but it humbles me even more. If I want people to see my work I have to work harder. I have to get involved and talk to all the wonderful steemians out there. I get the gitters as well when i'm about to post, and hope it goes well or people like it. I will not quit. I mean you get paid for your post, comments, etc. I've shown them what I've done in such a short time as an illustrator, animator and videomaker that doesn't know how to write very well and they just don't budge. I here them day in and day out how bad they are having it with money. I'm lmao. These 2 friends are damn good they could do very well here, but nope won't do it. I've given up. I've told others also.
I do have a plan for a video I'm going to make after a few months here to promote Steemit but for now I'm just going to focus my time and energy in myself so that later I can helps others if they choose to do so.
