I like it. Nice illustrating. But I would say even though the '^' is trying to represent the upvote arrow, it does give the character somewhat of a sad face.
It reminds me of a power lifter, overhead pressing a barbell. You might consider to have him pressing an actual barbell, with blue STEEM coins w/ up arrows on either side as the weights, and then give him a happier face instead :)
