Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was all set to collaborate with actor Salman Khan for a film titled Inshallah after a long gap of 21 years.

However, the film which had Salman opposite Alia Bhatt got shelved a few days before the shoot. The reason for the same was unknown.

Recently during an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali talked about the possibility of working with Salman Khan once again. "Salman is a very dear friend, and I wanted to work with him after Padmavat. I put my best feet forward to make it happen. For whatever reasons, it didn't turn out. We all change as people. So he has changed; in his mind, I have changed," he told the leading daily.

The director further said, "I have utmost regard and respect for the person who did Khamoshi for me, who did Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam for me, and who stood by in Sawariyaa. So he (Salman) has been a very very important part of who I am today and I will always respect him for it. The ball is in his court to decide if he wants to work with me, and if it's god willing inshallah agar hona hai to hoga (it'll happen if it's supposed to happen)."

Before concluding the topic, Sanjay Leela Bhansali confessed that both he and Alia were heartbroken after Inshallah was shelved.

For the unversed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has worked with Salman Khan during the initial days of the latter's career. The actor-director duo gave some of the iconic films including the 1996 release Khamoshi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently celebrating the success of Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film was released last week and has been doing good business at the box office.
