Guys, if you are dealing with Bitcoin and the alt coins, or thinking about getting into trading and investing, then you should know that SECURITY is one of the things that you SHOULDN'T ignore! Like vultures, hackers are looking for their prey all the time, and if they'll get any chance, they will eat you for breakfast and take all of your hard-earned investments.
I am sure you have an e-mail linked to the exchanges that you work with, be it for trading or simply exchanging your STEEM into Bitcoin. But do you think the e-mail that you use is secure? Don't you think if your e-mail ever gets hacked, the hackers can get access to all of your private and financial information? There are plenty of things to secure when you are dealing with the online currency to prevent anyone from getting access without your permission, and e-mail is one of em.
Secure Your E-mail
First things first, no matter what email you have, you should have the 2 Factor Authentication activated. That is a MUST! It gives an extra security or password to protect your email from getting hacked. If someone tries to get into your email, they'll need to have access to your mobile phone too.
Now, if you want to go one step ahead for securing your email, then you should definitely check out ProtonMail.
What Security Does ProtonMail Offers?
- It offers free end-to-end encryption(even they can't see your emails) on all your emails with 500 MB online storage, however, if you need more storage you can upgrade to their paid version which is only $4/month.
- They don't require any of your personal information to create an account. They don't even keep any of your IP logs. And since their company and servers are based in Switzerland, you won't have to worry about your personal information because it's protected by the Swiss privacy laws!
- They also offer 2-FA for even more security, so make sure you activate it once your account is created!
Now there are many other features about ProtonMail, especially in the paid version. But do check out their FREE version if you are serious about privacy and security. Their 500 MB online storage should be enough and I personally use it for my exchanges, and it really keeps one of my worries at bay.
ps- No matter what email you use for your exchanges, make sure that it's not a public email. Meaning, you are only using that email for exchanges. Keep it private. Plus, you don't want any other junk around your important financial information, remember don't give the hackers a chance!
Thanks for sharing! I had never thought before of having an email that you JUST use for crypto but 100% makes sense. I will have a look into ProtonMail. Love the banner you have at the bottom of your post by the way :)
