The Great Depression ~ The Forgotten Lesson

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

During the Roaring Twenties people’s wealth didn’t just increase, their living standard increased significantly with the distribution of electricity, which allowed people to buy ‘comfort’, like vacuum cleaners and fridges. But of course also radio’s, which allowed for the first time in history for information to spread far and wide instantly, including advertisement of course. Everybody was buying, especially into the stock market.

But … most of it was done with borrowed money, the Federal Reserve kept the interest rates artificially low and people were not just borrowing money to buy cars and fridges, but also stocks, because everybody on the radio agreed; stocks can only go … until they went down of course.

And in October 1929, that’s exactly what happened; on Black Monday and Black Tuesday-Wall Street lost almost 13 percent and then almost 12 percent of its overall value; in less than a week the stock market has crashed with 25% and ‘investors’ better said gamblers that borrowed money to buy stocks went completely broke, dragging thousands of banks with them.

The government assured everybody it was just a little ‘glitch’ and everything would be back to normal in no time, except of course that the unemployment rate kept rising; averaging 8.9 percent in 1930, then almost 16 percent in 1931, more than 23 percent in 1932, and finally 28 percent in March 1933.

And although all of this was clearly caused by the government, spear headed by the Federal Reserve, the people were so uniformed and uneducated that they actually asked for more government and elected Franklin Delano Roosevelt as president, and FDR instantly expanded on all the fascist ideas, program and institutions that caused the crisis to start with.

Fascism comes from the Latin word ‘fasces’, which means bundle, as in; bundled together, also known as collectivism, socialism and communism.

The Etruscans believed that when they conquered a neighboring village, that means they were more sophisticated, better evolved, which is why they were able to win and why conquering that village was in fact in that village best interest, as now they were part of a ‘better’ society. That’s the theory …

So, then what? Did they invite the neighbors for battle? No, they would tell their neighbors they had no intention to attack, only to trade … to then attack in the middle of the night, slaughter all the men, rape the women and enslave the children.

Fascist are nothing but thugs … in fancy dress

And so was FDR, he was very well dressed, used big words and spend most of his time in the restaurant, but he also slaughtered millions of farm animals, while people were starving, stole everybody’s gold, while he was inflating the currency and utterly destroyed whatever there was left of the economy to eventually drag the entire world into a massive, brutal war … just because he was too much of a coward to be honest with himself and admit his failures ... typical narcissistic behavior.

FDR had no respect for law and order whatsoever, he was just another vile tyrant, who would viciously oppress anybody who’d opposed him, including hundreds of thousands of innocent Americans from Japanese decent, who were taken to jail, ripped of all their possessions and dignity, just because FDR couldn’t imagine that he, the president might be the problem … this while Rene Descartes already gave us the answer more as 300, almost 400 years ago;

"Cogito Ergo Sum"

On a side note, there's a really nice cooking series by a frail woman named "Clara", who lived through the depression.

As she cooks, like your very own great grandmother might do, she shares it on youtube, she tells you little snippets of what it was like.. For instance in one episode how the neighbor across the street was found in her vegetable garden one morning. So many people were starving.

Good post btw @luminousvisions

I dedicated my entire life to embodying an example that makes this world obsolete. I was already aware of this and hope that anyone who was not reads it. I also hope that people realize this country is just like this today and it is quite possible that within the next year we see the beginnings of what will be even a bigger collapse than the "great depression"
Be prepared!

For those of us seeking the truth we have heard the evidence that "the great depression" was deliberate. They like us have been using coupons issued by slaveowners pretending employers. We must find a way to eliminate fiat currency altogether.

I have great hope that Steemit will continue to be a rapidly growing platform for libertarian thoughts and ideas. While the Steemit model is a sharing one, it should never be confused with any fascist style of government. Fascism is brought about by government force, while Steemit is completely voluntary.

Here's to freedom and liberty for the individual! Great post! Followed!

Good post. We want to hear more!

Always great to meet someone who doesn't accept the status quo.

The fasces was a Roman symbol of power carried before magistrates, generals and state officials. It consisted of a bundle of stick symbolising flagellation, and an axe symbolising death penalty. When chosen as a symbol by the Italian fascists it was not to hint at collectivism, but to show that they took upon themselves the right to use violence ... which they certainly did.

Roman Lictors carrying fasces.
