Introduction

Steemit is a platform where at its base, users upvote the content they like or find it useful, the competition is then between the users for creating good content and giving good comments, for other users to review them and cast their votes impartially, until this point everything seems to be fair, but people are not completely impartial.

Is Steemit Fair?

Steemit is a competition of some sort, if we want it to be fair for everyone then we need to make sure any user on Steemit to become an impartial judge, and this is not happening anytime soon.

Ideally, we want Steemit to be fair, we want it, so great content that fills our interest needs to be present in Steemit, we want it, so we have the same chances of success that any other person do, but we need to remember, in the real world (not the ideal world), no every person is the same, and no everyone get the same chances for success.

Good content without any promotion will be crushed under pressure of sheer amount of new content that is put in Steemit, and there are not enough truly impartial curators for every possible category of content. (Smart up-voting bots can be a solution to this problem)

So yeah, Steemit is not fair, it is a competition, where you need to make your own name to be known, by publishing good content, and searching for curators interested in your content.

Conclusion

New user are joining Steemit every day, but I leave you with this question.

Do you think it is fair that we know about Steemit now and most of the World has no clue about it? Are you not getting more opportunities just because you know about Steemit before other people? Should not everyone in the planet know about Steemit right now so they could have the same opportunities?

If so, can you even make the World to listen to you?

(Update) : "Steemit can still be called fair, because every user get the same chance to open one "free" account, and publish their articles, i think that is fair enough."

Give it an upvote if you find it useful

Life isn’t always fair. Why should Steemit be any different? So by your standards older members would be punished in order for the newer members to have a chance to catch up. That wouldn’t be fair because that means that not all members are treated equally. I’d love to hear some more of your reasoning.

You are totally correct, in fact being "fair" can be also mean taking something for someone else, following with what you just said that's not being fair. Steemit can still be called fair, because every user get the same chance to open one "free" account, and publish their articles, i think that is fair enough.
