Flew Shot is the title of my serial posts about whatever random things a g'won. From writing about blogging to promoting my podcasting career, curating music & art to writing about sociopolitical issues, I'll create one of these at least weekly, often more. I will also sometimes use specific tags and communities for these posts.
Piggybacking on yesterday's post...
Yesterday's post was a lot to take in I'm sure. Well that's life, usually way more to take in than one can handle. Yet we seem to keep handling it. Fuck it.
Yesterday's post elicited a lot of sympathy and empathy. Not necessarily what I was aiming for. In fact, my intention behind blogging about our life here is pretty objective and mundane, I just enjoy writing and what better to combat writer's block than to journal one's life events which seem ceaseless.
So, blogging and journalism have gone well for me. I was made chief editor for a while for the biggest Anonymous inspired alternative news outlet in the world. I'm proud to say we have well over twelve million followers on Facebook, although we've recently begun to experience much Zucking. I've even earned some of my living from writing. And since having discovered the decentralized web not quite five years ago, I've learned how to generate some extra scratch in the form of crypto just by posting and commenting.
The day job I had working for Billy has now transitioned into me becoming the owner of my own marketing company and consulting firm. It sounds much fancier than what I actually do, LOL. As I mentioned in the previous post, I've been in the durable medical equipment supply business. It makes a decent chunk of change which has allowed my family a level of financial independence we hadn't seen in a decade, when I was peddling sacramental and medicinal substances to ravers and festival goers around the north east United States. Matter of fact, I've been writing about my life as a rave promoter and "drug dealer" in a follow up to @johnvibes incredible book, Paper Squares and Purple Stars.
@samrisso, one of my very best friends whom I mentioned yesterday, is a published author too. See he didn't just succeed in abstaining from heavy heroin use, he moved up the socioeconomic totem pole rather quickly from addicted convited felon to business and now homeowner with a brand spankin' new and fresh AF Range Rover he had custom wrapped to match the color scheme of his daily blog and social media posts. The guy is a marketing mastermind who has taken sobriety to another level by taking ownership of the username @recoveryinc and making recovery super fucking cool!
I'm extremely proud of Risso. When we met a decade ago we moved quite a bit of Molly and K through the Baltimore rave scene. We both got locked up almost at the same time. I'll never forget walking by each other's tiers in jail and waving hello through the glass on the doors. I did a little under a year for the raid on the nightclub. He went away for a bit longer since he had way bigger demons to battle it seems. I went to college. He ran some halfway houses and opened phone rooms in South Florida and hired people in recovery who needed a good honest paycheck.
I won't kid you and make you believe my family is now in a six digit income bracket or anything. We're still climbing out of poverty, as they say. And climb seems such an appropriate term since it often feels like ascending Mount Everest, naked, with asthma and no inhaler. However, as I stated yesterday, our car troubles are far less these days, we enjoy eating out a little too often, our kids have no shortage of PS3 games and art supplies and I bet if I get up and check, we have a full tank of gas. Thanks, @samrisso!
Since having gained some financial freedom we've managed to make what I call micro-investments. By that, I mean minimal amounts of money to pay for an item or service which furthers our business interests and strengthens our portfolios. Out of our collective passions two brands have been berthed.
Movement19 and Love Reign.
M19 is basically me and anyone of my closest friends and family with some incredible talent and skill they bring to the table within the scope of culture, the arts and media.
Love Reign, my daughters' middle names, is our nuclear family. It is the crest of this tribe under which we have pledged to create and build and beautify in such a way as to live harmoniously with all living creatures to the best of our ability. As Love reign, we learn, we grow, we teach.
Yesterday, I also disclosed quite a bit about my family and our dreams as well as what some may perceive to be nightmares. Believe me, it feels that way sometimes. The life we chose is not convenient. Not because it is radical or novel, in fact, it's what I call traditional. Tried and tested, if you will. More so, it has been difficult embracing and practicing to its fullest while playing this one foot in, one foot out game with society and many aspects of mainstream culture up to and including earning and utilizing money. We've spent time learning to grow, forage and hunt food. We can do it if/when need be. But when one finds themselves forced to engage in much of the conventional American economic flow of traffic, convention becomes a critical piece of one's lifestyle.
These days, I have a bit more credibility among my several chosen professions. I will be nearing the age of fifty in a few years. I went from being an eighth grade drop out to being a decorated college grad in my forties. I'm a business owner now among a slightly higher socioeconomic ranking than I have been accustomed to for quite some time. I have many years experience running legit businesses and my having been a well known and successful recreational substance user goes well with my career as a researcher and scholar. Having over three decades experience as one of the lesser known cofounders of the American EDM scene also lends me a bit of credibility. I have a love for Hip Hop and Rave culture which has landed me in jail and even seen my life threatened for defending the human right to dance and be happy and feel good.
At present, I am hiring professional graphic artists and web designers as well as music producers and filmmakers to create and polish content. Several weeks ago I made quite a few of these micro-investments I mentioned above and got made a lot of headway in the production of Movement19 and Love Reign. We are about 90% ready to launch and relaunch our blogs and podcasts and even small local live events with our solar powered pop up shop we have dubbed #solartinysound 2.0, because the one we built two years ago was stolen by a very troubled soul.
In the interest of full disclosure, another reason I've made an aggressive return to blogging is because I've taken on more financial responsibility than I think I can chew so I sure AF hope I can make a few bucks posting. LOL.
Of course, we won't be able to take the show really on the road until the New Jersey and Florida come to some accord and ultimately resolve my eventuality. And now that I must again prove my moral worthiness to exist within the confines of mainstream society, I figure it a great time to enroll in grad school. I decided if I want to take on a fulltime curriculum while raising an eight and ten year old, managing a corporate style company remotely and pursue several creative entrepreneurial endeavors while continuing to play catch up with financial obligations, law school would be the way to go. I love to research and write. I love to engage in intellectual discourse. I'm really into conspiracies, the occult and history. And I'm one of the most passionate advocates for the human right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. It's a no brainer.
See ya...
Before I close for the day, if you or anyone you know needs internet, TV or phone at home or for a business, LMK. I have an office full of agents who can call you and take about ten minutes to set you up with an installation appointment. I still do marketing for durable medical equipment, but I prefer to fulfil my contract with AT&T and DirecTV service providers to sell their services and devices. And I don't know if we will always be able to bill insurance companies as government bureaucracies tend to change regulations more often that their underwear.
It look as though tomorrow, we will be able to take the #solartinysound 2.0 for a trial run tomorrow night for Mary's birthday. She turns 30. I'd say she ages like a fine wine, but she's much better than wine. I'm a lucky fucking guy to have her. And her kids are damn lucky she's their mom. Facts.
