Talk about the architecture or old buildings contained in Indonesia, we can not be separated from historic buildings that stood in the city of Semarang, precisely in the area Simpang Lima, namely Lawang Sewu. The building that has the meaning of "a thousand doors" is actually not the real name given to this building. The name was legendary because of the many doors that existed in the ancient building.
In the past, Lawang Sewu who has a flow of art art deco is a Dutch-owned railway company, NV Nederlandsch Indische Spoorweg Mastshappij and became one of the best construction works belong to Prof. architect. Jacob K. Klinkhamer and B.J. Shrimp. Semarang City Government also established Lawang Sewu as one of the under-protected buildings because it is a witness to the history of Indonesia during the 5-day war in Semarang between the Young Train of the Railway against competition and Kido Buati, Japan.
