Is steemit hosted on the blockchain?

Like is it a .bit by any chance? If so then how did it get to the surface web?

    The domain name , .com, is not on blockchain.
    The web pages (UI), is not yet on blockchain.
    The content (data), text is on blockchain, images will be on IPFS.

      All data is on chain, although the web interfaces are not. Steemit is similar to a blockchain.info in that sense. Have a look at steemd.com for an idea of how the blockchain makes the content replicable.
