Please Explain Steemit To An Idiot

in steemit •  9 years ago

My name is Nick. I came on this site (like anyone else would) to earn some value. I bought some steem power with my bitcoins and am voting on peoples stuff randomly.

Here are the simple questions that I dont get and alot of people will not get.....

  1. If I vote is that at a cost? (like the steem power I bought gets deducted?
  2. If I reply "That's cool" Is that a cost?
  3. If these are value costs to do these actions why would anyone ever vote?
  4. How can writing a post about whatever have some type of value?

Please help the idiots

Hello Nick,
I will just answer:

  1. No cost for voting.
  2. No cost for replys
  3. You vote good content and flag bad content. You get Steem Power for "good" voting. Meaning: when you upvote post as one of the first, and the Post ends up with 500 upvotes, you get Steem Power.
  4. Everything has some value attached to it, I think right now the system is still in an unbalanced state, you can see more here: https://steemd.com/distribution the value comes from people like you or me who pump btc into the system.

I cant tell my firends to come to my post because they cant find it?

Why did I buy steam power. What can I do with it besides sit on it? Why would anybody want to buy steam power?

I'm confused too. Why would I buy steem power?

@npl77 Ey Nick , I'm a noob as well. There a several separate educational posts about this. (requires deploying super search powers).. If you are anything like me you'll probably end up having more questions than answers in the coming days =P
But yeah, to start with, this post is a compilation you'll find pretty useful I think :
