You should join Steemit. Here is why.

I'm trying to figure out where I might fit in the steemit community. I've been pulling back from involvement in social media in general for the past few years, and focusing much of my free time writing under pen names on Amazon's self-publishing platform, in hopes of eventually becoming a full time writer.

I'd like to build a following here, but I'm unsure how to maintain my anonymity, especially if I use this platform in a similar way to how I'd use reddit. Should I stick to using Steemit professionally, and use this account as something of a pen name? I figure if I post too openly on a wide variety of subjects, I may be outed. Some of my amazon pen names are popular and if I work hard here, there may be sleuthers trying to infer my identity through my posting history. But I don't want to make throwaway accounts on here like many do on reddit/etc.

I'm still learning what Steemit is all about but any suggestions are welcome. :)

Not sure about that. A personal and professional account does seem like a good idea. Users are allowed multiple accounts, but only one 'free' one. If you want a second account, you would need to use a service like SteemConnect and pay the account creation fee for the new account (currently 15 STEEM). Below is a link with instructions in case you want to go that route.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll consider this option!
