STEEM was added to Bithumb yesterday which is great news of course. Bithumb is the 6th largest exchange globally ranked by trading volume. Deposits are already open, but withdrawals not yet (as far as I know). Over 1 million STEEM has already been transferred to Bithumb yesterday.

Do you have more details about the 12,262 new accounts? It remains surprising to see these peaks.
Could it be that most of these accounts are created for example by @blocktrades? They just create a whole bunch at once and then in the coming weeks they sell these accounts?

All new accounts created on steemit.com are manually approved by Steemit Inc. They regularly have a backlog, hence we have a spike when they begin approving the new accounts again.

Steemit inc does this manually to counter bot account, thus backlogs and thus bursts of account creation!
Also, when influential people join, they bring loads of people with them in a very short period of time. Or when populair sites cover the Steem blockchain the krakens are released ;-)
