Steemit Reflections

So this Steemit thing

I have been actively using the Steemit platform for a few weeks now, and I have to say I am reasonably hooked.

The second thing I can say for sure is I have no idea what I am doing

There have been mild successes, outright failures, and a general sense of confusion and excitement. I have tried a number of different things

My current Questions:

  • What do the intelligent human members of the community think of vote bots and services? Does everyone unanimously use them? Is there a certain stigma attached to these things?
  • Is there in fact a kind of battle occurring on Steemit? A battle to determine how the platform gets used and abused?

So I guess I feel as if I have committed here, because I have a sh*t tonne of creative energy that needs to be put into something. But I don't really know what I am getting myself into, I don't mind a bit of a grind. But a grind towards what? And how can I know what this platform will turn into.

My thought at this current stage, is that Steemit is like a brand new economy that is working its self out. The various emergent communities represent states of consciousness, or perhaps biological entities. Some are supportive like big trees throwing nutritious leaves, Some are symbiotic, some are parasitic.

One thing that struck me is how new users get funnelled into programs for guaranteed votes. Do you think our content is compromised in playing to the vote, especially for the community you happen to be in? I don't want to compromise on my honesty and creative power much at all. That's not why I became a content creator, and that is heading dangerously back into the capitalistic mentality that made YouTube gross, and has corrupted many forms of art in general. Is our content just made to be sold?

With my current level of understanding I have laid the following plan. To just stick to my guns and keep putting out quality stuff. I might have to be incredibly patient about generating a real following of real humans who aren't just mutually obligated to me.

I think somewhere beneath the politics that seem heated right now, there is some really real stuff happening. Deep and meaningful posts being created that are designed to stimulate and awaken us to something beyond the confines of a systematic structure. That is really what struck me actually, how everyone wants to just systemise this into a no effort profit scenario. And maybe it is once you build up enough clout, but I don't know about any of that just yet.

But my heart feeling is that systematisation is just another aspect of synthetic life. The synthetic life that is creating suffering and making me feel sick to look at how disconnected humans are. We get infected by 'programs' and we live them out, the raw beauty of life is obscured. This is not what I want, and I wont vote for it. We are alive, we are real, and this life is an opportunity to share that and be that. So for me this platform represents that hope to allow for real connection and be rewarded for being a real human who creates beauty and truth.

My intention and my imagined outcome is that this sentiment ultimately wins out, over the course of time and only by the process of humans awakening to their own truth.

Peace Wellness Balance Wholeness Honesty Integrity Honour Truth
Heart Based Awareness
Love to all the beings
And recognition of our true life - which is freedom

steembots are kinda frowned upon by some but others think they're great, like me. I was actually reading a new article about this earlier today. Ill include it below. I also plan on using them as needed and have used them in the past. i

you're right. We only have one life and its bet to make it how we want it. Not to sound too cliche or nothing.

dsound is ok but i prefer Dlive right now. its the best platform to me. I Don't think You'll be able to embed them in a post until they offer that option on dlive themselves. like youtube.

i genuinely like this post man and i mean it. i dont usually enjoy the majority of what i come across, but thats how it should be.

upvote bots

Thanks for your feedback @proprlee, this is really what I am looking for. I edited this post to take out my rapping segment, as that Dllive upload actually created another post and didn't want a double up.

gotchu. well listen if u have questions ask me. if i dont know the asnwer we can figure it out together. and if u want chedk out some of my music on Dlive.

Thanks for the support man, is your username a riff from that edited clip of the South African president? ... "listen properly" "inne the beginning". I will check out your music when I finish dinner and meditating! Much Love

naw, my name is play of my name and how i speak. lol

Nice to see you finding your steem legs @phillyC I think vote bots have a place, if they are used mindfully. They also optimise the time we have whist supporting others who have a role to play. So much great content, so little time. Personally I almost always comment when I upvote. My personal ethic, which means I READ your post. But our Steemit Mastermind Group has a few bot users in it and their steady support for newbies really helps them get started quickly, even when their content and 'voice' is a little weak at the start. Most of them go on to flourish and contribute to Steem so we are all ultimately benefiting from that bot's votes

Thanks for your comment @artemislives. This is realy useful having some different perspectives :)

I'm of the opinion that votebots are OK for those who are trying to get a little traction and reward for their efforts, usually those below a certain reputation. 60? 50? Don't know what a good number is. I think it's a personal decision. I stopped a few weeks ago.

You have a good energy about you and I think like attracts like. You'll find the people you want to associate with and serve with. That you are kind of stumped as to what you can become here and what Steemit is exactly... well join the club. I know this may sound shallow but I'm thinking Steemit is what you want it to be. I see human nature in all its crap and glory here. I'm hanging with the good folks that want to serve, put out good material, associate with good, like-minded people. It's just like the real world. You'll be who you are. Here, you have an opportunity to display more of who you want to be, of who you hope to be, of who you dream to be. There is plenty of opportunity here to create a new reality for yourself. I suppose thats what I like most about Steemit. You'll find a groove of activity that suits you. One thing I do is go to people who I respect and see who is commenting on their posts. The ones who strike me as being genuine and in their integrity I follow and try and develop relationships with. Of course I make misjudgements at times. Steemit offers me a chance to grow and do better myself which I apprreciate. Well, I ramble and I'm going cross-eyed. Too much time reading and commenting. Time for some good music and winding down. Blessings. I have a hunch you'll do very well here. I'd love to see you prosper. I'm going to make a list of those people I really respect that may help lift you up. It sucks to be tossing out pennies on your votes and to get pennies on your posts. Perhaps I can help steer you to some people who would like to help change that. So I'm making a note to myself to do that tomorrow. Oh, and of course, you've discovered how important community is. I'm kind of in between myself, but can recommend some good communities to be part of.
