How can I add value to steemit?

in steemit •  8 years ago  (edited)

With the children off school I haven't had much time to put into creating high quality content so have mostly experimented by posting whatever came to mind without a whole lot of planning, some of it has added value some of it hasn't. But with the children returning to school tomorrow it's time to put some serious consideration into what I can actually offer the steem it platform and which of those offerings users actually want to see.

#idea-bank

I actually started this yesterday with a post outlining some ideas that I would like to read about here on steemit.

The idea bank is primarly a service for users who feel they have nothing interesting to say, something that seems mundane or boring to them because they do it a lot is most probably challanging or fascinating to someone who has never come across or done it before.
it is also there to help combat writers block for those users who are just struggling to think of something to write about.
Ideally lots of people will get involved depositing ideas that they themselves would either like to read about or just haven't got time to write.

Crochet Tutorials

This is something I definatly want to do and have touched on in my earlier articles, however this will take time to put together as I need to invest some funds in equipment to be able to film properly and time setting up a perminant workspace in my tiny tiny house.
This video was made by streching clingfilm across two tables to create a clear platform to place my phone on. As you can see it was far from ideal as it interfeared with the picture quality at times, and includes rearranging the house everytime i wish to film.

I'm aware that starting out it can be quite difficult with most newbie crocheters getting themselves in a tangle and feeling that they just can't do it, so I would also like to find a way to offer one to one help for those who want it.

Art

While i have enjoyed sharing my doodles I do wonder how much value they actually add to the site and your experiances here? I have one more megadoodle in the works that I plan on working on throughout this week transforming an old table into a giant mandala, but as the weather is starting to turn here in the UK I'm not sure how much outside time I will get to compleate it.
My other options moving forward are

  • crochet art in a similar fashion to the video above (although less childish as part of my plan for that project was to keep the children entertained for several hours)
  • time lapse doodles filmed from above
  • promoting and eventually interviewing other steemit artists far more talented than myself through a once a week round up article.

I would truly appriciate any feedback on which of these you would like to see more of as I don't have time to do them all.

The doodles really do. Really, really, really do add to the site. They arent just doodles they are pure art!

The crotcheting is not bad too ;o) I think its a great idea and I like the kid stuff in the video above!

Thank you meesterboom, perhaps once a permenant work space is in place i can find time to include both doodling and crochet.

Oooooo, you putting a room aside or making space in a shed?

i'd love a shed workspace but I don't have one the shed in the picture was at my mums house, it will most likely be a corner in the dining room.

As good a place as any, I would love a shed workplace myself!

I'm a big fan of whatever you do - which is certainly good feedback, but not very helpful. LOL
I love your crochet tutorials and I was really impressed with your door doodle.
Using your growing influence to help newbies out would be a great service. It's an excellent idea!

But here's an idea for your #idea-bank - how about some blog posts and pics of your town? Maybe in your travels you can point out some of the places to visit should anyone come to visit :)

Thats a great idea @merej99 I'll be sure to pop it in the next idea bank post and credit you.
lol it's nice to know what i do is appriciated..hmm maybe i need to get ontop of that time management issue and work out how to squeeze more in without rushing.
