Do you feel that way too?
This is all new to me, but I keep hearing people on Steemit upvote their own replies in the comments.
I did it once and I felt bad. Like I'm cheating the system. Maybe it's just me.
Does anyone else feel this way too? Am I missing out on tons of Steem by not upvoting my responses? I don't think I am going to change anytime soon. I believe I will continue to not upvote my own comments. I sleep really well at night. I would not want to mess with that.
I've seen people demonstrating some kind of a slider thing which lets you select how much steem power you want to use on an upvote. How does this work? There must be a FAQ out there somewhere. Maybe I will search for it again on YouTube. I noticed if I hit upvote for someone with a large following it calculates a larger dollar amount for the payout. This is interesting. Someone with a smaller following barely budges. This is very encouraging as it motivates one to create posts worth following you for, so in a sense it is a good motivation to work towards increasing your following.
I am very thankful for each and every follower. I hope to never let you down! I do enjoy seeing what is on people's minds and reading their latest work. I have learned things on Steemit I did not know. Keep going everyone. We are changing the world.

You need to have a minimum amount of steem power to get that slider fuctionality.
"Once a user reaches 1 MilliVest (which right now equates to 482.398 Steem Power), they will gain access to the vote slider bar. This lets you determine how much of a vote you want to give a person. Since we have a limited number of full (100%) votes a days without it effecting our voting power, sometimes we want to give a partial votes to more people."

Yes, I feel funny about it, but do it anyway. Give a little to yourself and a little to others.

It took me 3 days to figure out how to turn that upvote yourself function off. It makes me feel strange too.

It's all a bit confusing to be sure. But I suppose that's because Steemit is still very much a work in progress. We need more developers to jump in and create the additional tools to help people navigate the site more easily. Upvoting our own work? I didn't even know that was an option, so thanks for bringing it to our attention. Will I use it? Probably not. As you say. It feels a bit weird.
