Could Steemit Become The Next YouTube?

At the moment the only way to upload a video to Steemit is through a whole song and dance routine, to upload your own video to Steemit you must first upload the video to YouTube or other sites such as Vimeo, then take the embedded link and paste it into your post making sure to use the correct markdown styling guide.

Steemit holds the power to become an 'all in one' community, It has to potential in the near future to rival the massive greedy corporations that horde up to or more than 90% of the content creators earnings, Im looking at you iTunes, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Bandcamp, and others. Thats like saying for every $50,000 you make I get $45,000 because I provided the medium for your exposure and success, you still get $5,000 and thats enough for you to survive and keep making content but I get the whip-cream and cherry on top of your ice cream sundae.

YouTube has become a place where content creators who express ideas that paints its platform in a 'negative' light get penalized by having their ad revenue flow blocked off. Content creators such as Filthy Frank for example, who has a following of 4.8 million users and who makes original weird comedy skit videos gets no support or recognition from YouTube because his comedy is deemed offensive and unfavourable to the imagine of YouTube. Content creators such as these that make even the slightest of questionable content in the eyes of the YouTube authority have to resort to making a Patreon donation website to be able to afford to keep on making content for their audience.

Free speech is suffering online. Regardless of if you approve of the content or it or not, everyone should be free to express themselves online in whatever manner they chose to do so. Steemit supplies this long needed demand in the social media market. On Steemit content creators are free to express themselves freely and reap in their full earnings without having to worry about the middle man.

Like I said in my yesterdays post we are still only in the beta version of Steemit, and what the future holds for this website is still mostly up for discussion, but rest assured this platform is not going anywhere anytime soon, It has a ways to climb to better improve its user interface among other things, but even by todays version June '17 it is still a heck of a lot better than Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube in the potential that it holds.

Sincerely,
@Pryce

Well, You just answered Your question yourself. Steemit can only become a "one of all" community if it offers these functions and features. At the moment it doesn't, steemit is just a simple looking blog platform for now. It can't replace YT if You can't upload videos. It can't replace Facebook if it doesn't offer any similiar functions and features FB has. Its that simple.

There is plenty of room to grow, I was generally asking if in the future it would be able to rival with YouTube, and what the community thought of this, if I was being preposterous or silly with my claims I asked in order to hold an open discussion with steemit users on their thoughts.

Thank you for commenting, @arian1. Its still in its infancy lets not forget, Steemit is new territories being the first success story of its kind.

Becoming the next youtube is a cool concept. I hope it gets that far. I think the web is due for next gen social and video. Also tired of seeing how much these large corporations are screwing people over.

Change in inevitable :)
