Bye Bye Steemit.
It was fun while it lasted. I'm not quitting because of the rewards. It's the human element that's missing. Too much automation, too many people seeing dollar signs and not interacting with one another. Chasing whales and dreaming of dolphins? I don't think so.
UPDATE: I don't have anything against Steemit, it could simply be that I haven't found my decentralized blockchain family yet :-)
There are humans here too :) There are so many people posting stuff though, that the "humans" don't have time to notice everyone. It takes quite a bit of time to get noticed and build up a following.
You might want to check out this post of mine. I talked about my experiences on the site since I joined in July. It will hopefully show you some of the human element that is here :)

It's here; it's beneath the surface though. Right now Steemit is a very small community. I'd guesstimate we probably have about 2,000 'active human' users. It's a fairly tight-knit community. Within that group, there are a lot of different sub-communities doing different things. I've found my home mainly with the more technical crowd, but there are lots of other things going on too. Not sure what your interests are (photography, food, sports, science, Steemit..). Most of them though have a handful of dedicated people that are working on projects related to that. I think the core thing that ties most of us together though are we are all working to turn this place from a 'crude beta website' into something to hopefully rival the mainstream sites like Reddit, Medium, Facebook, etc. If that interests you, you will probably find a lot of friends here :)

As you browse through posts you will hopefully find people you are interested in engaging with. One of the best ways to connect is through comments. There are also some god groups in Steemit.chat depending on what your interests are. Feel free to message me in there anytime to chat.

I agree with you @timcliff! I have started to form connections with several people on Steemit. It feels like a community, but as you said, it takes some time - to get noticed and to notice other people.

To solve the one issue of needing humanity you are going to turn away? There is no other alt like Steem and the Steemit blogs and communities. Stay and make change.
