What will I be doing this week during the experiment? - A bit of positivity for the community.steemCreated with Sketch.

What will I be doing here on Steemit while the whale experiments are happening?

The same thing I do every day.

I will continue to devote time to Steemit.

I will continue my daily Holi-Art posts.

I will continue to curate. (Now more than ever, as my votes are worth a tiny, tiny bit.)

I will continue to comment.

Does this mean that I am just complying and that I am ok with the experiment?

No, not exactly.

This experiment could have been HUGE. It could have really been big...Had it been implemented correctly - But alas, it wasn't. Experiments are part of a beta website and to be expected, but so is a high level of communication. In this case, from the looks of it all, there was next to no communication.

That sucks.

Why?

Well, let's think for a second...None of the community knew about this, and it's quite obvious that very few whales knew about it as they are still casting votes which are being "countered" with downvotes. That being said, I believe that this experiment (at this time) will be in vain and the results will be incredibly tainted, as many in the community are choosing to not spend their time posting due to multiple factors. (this was the TL;DR version from my brain, you don't want the actual version...trust me.)

So what will I be doing while this experiment is ongoing?

Creating one Holi-Art post per day, as I know that many in the community enjoy this daily post. However, I cannot guarantee that this week's pieces going to be nearly as nice or detailed per the usual, simply because I have a family and other work that I should be tending to, and with these things going on I cannot justify spending a few hours each day creating artwork to create a post that will only bring $0.60. I know, I know..."But RB, you shouldn't be here for the rewards, you should be here for the community". If you're going to say that, don't - because even though it eats away my valuable time, I am choosing to stay for the community. Why? Because you guys and gals are incredible!

I mean, let's get real, none of us "came for the community", we came for the rewards...But we chose to stay, "because of the community".

Today, even though it is hard, I am choosing to stay for the community.

What will you choose to do?

When I woke up to this news, I was really disappointed. My first thought was 'what bad timing.' To do just such an experiment with steem so low. This changes the rules of the game and we had no heads up. Bad form.

However, I am starting to see a little bit of how it might be a good thing. We'll have a few days of figuring out the new rules, but we will.

It would be super nice to know the duration of this experiment.

It would be super nice if they explained ALL of the constraints and parameters of the exxperiment so at least some useful information could come of it. But no, that didn't happen.

Agreed, I watched it unfold early this AM and even jumped in the conversation a bit. I was bitter at first, but I kept telling myself that we are still in beta and it's to be expected....That doesn't mean that I am down with how it has happened by any means, but I've come to terms with it in the last couple of hours.

A time frame would be nice...Hey, @smooth or @abit I know y'all are probably being bombarded right now, but could you maybe help us out? How long will this experiment be ongoing?

I feel like you

I wrote a community encouragement post today, got 5 or more flags, with massive 10% flags/DV, by the TOP whales, - when 1% would have been fair..... it killed the rep score and payout, and I had a lot of time and thought into it but who cares, about encouraging content right that is then worth $1?

It was a failed experiment and these flags, with no start or end date, or announcement, are driving good people off here daily. Poorly thought out, at best.

What I will do ? I get a nice aparol pro secco :) and enjoy to be a guinea pig 🐷 for a while ...DUH

Hahaha Nice choice! ;)

I take 2 😉

Two might make it even more exciting! haha

Don't get me started . I might turn into a downflag monster hahah !

I agree that it could have been done well. And I agree that it clearly wasn't.
This is not a Steemit project. It's whales acting together to see what happens. I suspect, because I know a couple who are involved, that the motives were good. Unfortunately, many of the actions are turning out to be despotic. These are self-assigned rulers of Steem right now, dictating whose vote will count and whose won't.
To promote the community, there should have been community discussion first, rather than this approach, which comes across as cronyistic. Then specific guidelines could have been laid out so that everyone could be on board and participate in the experiment.
In this case, it sorta looks like whales leave chemtrails. You will be part of our experiment and there's nothing you can do about it. Oh, and we'll change and/or adjust the rules if we want... yep, nothing you can do about that either.

This is how a community should operate.

The chemtrail comment was perfect. Made me lol :)

I right there with you, bro! It all is weird and somewhat difficult to swallow at the moment. Good news is that Bernie just made a post saying that he was done flagging and what not...we'll see what happens.

Btw, I shot you an upvote on that post. Only gave you $0.06, but every little bit helps, right? :)

Thanks for being such a positive force here on Steemit!

I always love hearing from you and every vote counts man, I always say that.

WE need to have a

#SteemitStrike

I said today. Organize it, stop posting for a week, watch the panic and collapse from all the so called stakeholders, and then they will see what matters...

Content creators and daily posters and community.... it is social media as a platform right afterall?

Whoooaaaa. That would be intense! Haha

I agree ^^
This is me at now ^
^

Hahaha I feel ya, @silviabeneforti!

I dig the positivity bro.., but I can't buy into an experiment, where the results will be tainted, at best. I understand people can vote how they want.., but I thought there were guidelines about flagging -- not anymore...

I feel ya, man. It's all just reeaally confusing right now. Within the last little bit, Bernie actually wrote a post saying that he was done with the experiment...so we'll see what happens tomorrow. haha

Great positive post. Love it.

Hey @sumsum, thanks!

I'm carrying on as usual. I think the experiment is valid even if handled badly. It was bound to upset some people regardless

This is true, but had it been handle correctly, there would have been far less upset people.

Hey, check it out, three cents added to that, yeah baby, lol. This is my positivity for today: https://steemit.com/life/@dreemit/to-everyone-who-is-not-a-whale-let-s-see-if-we-can-t-get-something-from-this-experiment-read-on

Ouchie. Lol
Hey, @abit, I know you're probably slammed replying to everyone else's comments, but out of curiosity, how long is this experiment going to go?

Hey thanks, guys! Y'all rock!
