What is DLive?
DLive is the first decentralized video live streaming platform on Steem! It can be seen as the Twitch on the Steem blockchain including, but not limited to, gaming contents.

Background
The live streaming industry is an inside racket.
Even though the industry has been rapidly growing for the past couple of years, most of the profits for broadcasters are squeezed by middlemen such as Twitch, Youtube, Live.me, and so on. The unfair treatment may come in different ways, but the outcome is always the same--bad news for broadcasters.
New broadcasters are “on the outside”--not good for fans or finances.
Generally, broadcasters find it difficult to get started or to sustain their performance on the existing platforms because of what is called a “high monetized entry bar.”
What this means is that most of the platforms require a very high commitment from the broadcasters before they even start earning money. For example, as a Twitch broadcaster, the only way to be profitable from gifts and subscriptions is to be in the Affiliate program. However, Twitch has very strict requirements to qualify for that program.

Another example of the monetization problem is that Live.me only allows users to check out when they have reached a minimum balance of $200, and there is a daily limit of $600. Therefore, only a very small portion of broadcasters are profitable.

High cut
Traditional centralized platforms generate enormous revenue from taking a huge cut from broadcasters’ income pool. For example, according to Twitch’s agreement, “The Net Subscription Revenues for the Channel Subscription Services will be split 50% to you and 50% to us.” Many also charge service or transaction fees when users leave tips, even though tips are clearly meant to reward broadcasters. They’re gouging the very people who are making them successful!
Pop-up ads
Another major revenue source for centralized platforms is push ads. Broadcasters are not the only ones getting squeezed. Ever find yourself watching something great and then those annoying pop-up ads start to glut the screen?
User contributions
Equally unfair, users’ curation contributions such as their “likes” and “dislikes” are not recognized. Thanks to Steem's economic model and blockchain technology, we are able to change the rules and disrupt the current playground.
DLive’s solution
Micropayment with no fee
Users can show their appreciation to broadcasters by transferring STEEM directly or simply upvoting. There will be no “Affiliate Program” or check-out limitation. This way, every broadcaster can easily monetize their contents from the very first day.
No cut
DLive will take 0 transaction or commission fees from broadcasters and users.
No push ads
The nature of a decentralized community is that the individual should have more freedom, right? DLive will not force any users to watch ads. No more pop-up ads to annoy you....
Everyone is rewarded
Just like other Steem communities, curation and creation reap rewards.
