So, here's the thing. The WORLD pretty much sucks! Hear me out first. WE as a human race, have managed to screw ourselves in every areas of life. We have built a broken system for ourselves or the powers that be, have created for us. (who knows!). But whatever the case, it's a dark, dark world out there.
AN APOCALYPTIC WORLD IN DISGUISE
Just think about it. Right from the time we are born into the world, we are in a race. A race against time and a race against everyone else. At school we try to get better grades for ourselves, so we can study at a good college. At college again, we have to perform really well and compete against our fellow mates. Then when we enter the "work world", we are in a race to outperform everyone else so that we can get that esteemed promotion from time to time leading to a better lifestyle. Oh, the things we have to do to get a promotion!
Other than that, Income disparity is growing in the world, resources are scarce, jobs are getting taken over by robots and distrust, jealousy, anger, frustration and greed have become the default emotions. The world can't sustain this.
Its like 'every man for himself' out there. Does that remind you of something? Ring a bell? It should. Because that's what an apocalyptic world looks like! YES, We are living in an apocalyptic world in disguise and in a sense, WE are THE WALKING DEAD. Congratulations!
A RAY OF HOPE
That realisation is the first step to recovery. To re-ordering. To change. You and I may have been late to come to this realisation. But the people behind Steemit surely weren't. They knew that things were screwed and a change was necessary. They knew that if something wasn't done quickly, the world would become an even darker place. And hence Steemit was born. A ray of hope in the darkness. You might be thinking what's so special about Steemit? Well, everything actually. Its so good that it has the potential to change the dynamics of how everything is done! (And I am serious)
Steemit pays you to post articles. It pays you to curate content. And the whole system is decentralised. So anyone with decent content can make a living off of Steemit. The ones without, can still earn by upvoting and commenting on posts. There have been huge payouts to several people, as much as $30000!! Let that sink in for a second. Sitting on a couch, at your home, you can get paid to write content. And the payout is good. Where else can you get all of this!
Steemit's secret to success is actually a combination of different things (from my point of view). It combines cryptocurrency with a social networking platform. It has developed a system where people are incentivised to participate (always a good idea) and to stay for the long run (with the implementation of Steem Power). The whole thing from the grounds up, is designed very cleverly such that no misuse of the system can be done.
All this has resulted in a community of users, unlike any other. Applaud yourself. You, yes you reading this, applaud yourself. We have done it. We have finally brought into the world what was missing the most. POSITIVITY. Just look at all the trolls in the world. They are everywhere. From YouTube, to Facebook, to Reddit. Just everywhere, spreading negativity like an epidemic.
BUT, when you have a system where everyone benefits off of each other and everyone moves forward together, there is no place for negativity. Again, THIS is by design. Negativity is neither tolerated nor beneficial for any individual. We are each others' STRENGTH not WEAKNESS. We are like the leaves on the same tree, moving in the direction where the wind leads. TOGETHER. And that, my fellow Steemians, is where the proverbial nail has been hit on the head. Take a bow @ned and @dan. Take a bow!
CHANGE IS COMING!
So, what's in store for the future? I have an image in my mind. But for that we must travel to the year 2040.
Picture this. Robots have taken over the physical labour worldwide. Humans are left to deal with the creative side of things. A lot of job descriptions have changed and a lot have gone extinct. Humanity has transitioned to a futuristic society. But not a bleak, dystopian one that is usually shown in movies. But a bright, idealistic, utopian society. CIVILISATION 2.0. The way it was always meant to be. 2040's people are programmers, content creators, inventors, scientists, physicists, space explorers, designers and so on. (You get the idea).
We have moved to a totally cryptocurrency mode of money, where everyone is well off. No longer is the gap between the rich and the poor equal to that of the GDP of a country! Poverty, Famine, Unemployment only exist in the dictionary. Its a bright world. A happy world. And social platforms like Steemit have had a major impact on shaping the things as they are. In fact they are the ones that started the revolution, empowering the individuals from the bottom and not the other way around! WE MADE IT! :)
