First day on Steemit and I found this post very helpful. I have also already noticed that the ones making a lot are the people that have a large following on other social media platforms.

Having a large following elsewhere does help, for many reasons. Personally though, I didn't really have any followers from other platforms before I came here. I've been here for about a year now, posting very frequently and networking, but I've managed to build up a pretty good following just by working hard and adding value here.
