Tags disappearing along the posts

Has anyone else noticed that tags disappear along the posts that were tagged under them?

In some cases it may be possible to retrieve those by searching specifically through the search function. Today I noticed that this is not the case everytime, e.g. bitshares tag.

Does anyone have an explanation of how this work?

    It probably keeps the newest ones.
