Yet it should go without saying, clicking on links from people or sources one truly does not know is one of the highest online security risks anyone can take. No matter the platform (website interface, messenger service, online app, etc.).
The heart of any attempt to breach a system relies heavily upon the end user (target system) initiating a point of attack.
There can be no intrusion attempt, no port scanning for vulnerable running services and holes in the router, if the target does not open a window for the attacker.

I am not generally a malicious person with malicious intent, though I am aware of such techniques and tactics. Yet anyone with little to no technical know-how can easily find how-to tutorials and browser web services that can do half the work for them.
