My thoughts as I go through my second month on Steemit - Wow.
Can you say, "1000SP just for clicking on stuff I like?"
I can!
Learning the ropes
It has been wonderful to dedicate my self to learning another crypto-tech-system. I have not bothered to learn much about any of the coins I buy and sell. Dash has interested me some and setting up a node is in my future. But Steem, though volatile, is very interesting because of the opportunities here while reading interesting blogs and no ads!
It kind of makes me feel like the rest of the internet is just messed up.
I am still finding new ways to look at my account and others' activities on the blockchain. I am pretty happy as an investor, and I plan to throw a power-up into my account every couple of weeks for good measure.

Price worries
I don't find myself fretting over price. I have had my share of heart attacks in the crypto-currency world. It comes with the territory. I find it to be a buyers market - time to add to Steem holdings. This order just executed, and I am putting another crazy-low world-low-snatch-up-some-more Steem order in as I write.
You're paying me?
I see people doing strange things as if they were diving across aparking lot - road rash on their faces to get that .001 Curation Reward. How many accounts can you juggle? This one has 54 if I remember right. I don't really want to draw attention to this person so the image is as is to show the quantity and strangeness, rather than highlight the user. Just something I ran across, that's all. This is a free, decentralized zone after all, and I like freedom to do as one pleases.

Scarcity of votes - Nooooo...
Another thing I notice is that people are taking back their votes , mostly during the 6 - 15 minutes range. I have seen this behavior occasionally in the past but now, it is freaky all the time. I guess that's what happens when you make each vote hugely valuable - people chase the money as if it were the last pop tart. I for one, let my vote stick once I have read a post and slapped it with a vote. My likes are my likes.
Things will settle down when people see that they can use the slider to give posts the amount of love that they deserve, and when they find out that they can't put their vote back as that same article goes into the thousands. Once you get out of line, you don't go to the back of the line, you're are banned from the line! Go to the next post, do not pass go...
All in all, I love my new job. I don't have a job. I don't need a job. I don't want a job. I want to do what I like doing and get paid for it. Steemit fits the bill.
How to buy Steemit Cryptocurrency in here? bit confusing how to buy.

My first buy was within Steemit and it was a bit confusing. If you have bitcoins and can get the QR to show up, Blocktrades is ok. I trade coins all the time, so I use an exchange. Once I found out that my "Steem Address" was just sponge-bob (without the @) I was able to buy on Poloniex and just send the Steem to my username here. Powering up!

It's the trading platform. You have to go with one you are comfortable with. I don't recommend keeping much money on ANY exchange as so many have had problems as they get bigger. I was lucky that I got out of MtGox, Bitstamp and Bitfinex weeks before they attracted the attention of hackers.

I have just recently got the slider still deciding the best way to use it, still insure about it.

Today is the first day since they updated voting power "strength". I read that you now have 5 votes per day, whereas yesterday, you had 40 votes per day. Before, you could vote 40 times per day before you saw a substantial decrease in voting power. Now, though I don't see it in action, you start to faint in voting power after the first 5 votes of any given day.
The slider allows you to vote on more things but give each less of your Voting Strength - if you choose to - ie; if you voted everyone at 10% you could theoretically vote 50 times before depreciating your voting power percentage.

Just signed up for Steemit and everything seems a bit strange at the moment. Can you suggest some cool folks to follow?
You are also saying that this is your new job - I'd love to read a post on that! :)

Well, I touched on how I ended up quitting (well, not going back to) my job in my post yesterday. https://steemit.com/introducemyself/@sponge-bob/let-me-introduce-mysponge-a-bit-about-me-at-last
Just like now with Steemit, bitcoin was once just this strange investment I made and it probably wouldn't ever get off the ground. Until is did. I popped a couple bitcoins into my Steem Power and now I vote a lot. My SP goes up 15-20 per day due to just voting. Yesterday morning I had 2958, this morning I had 2979 and now I am likely near 3000.

I am a bit like Jeff, though I didn't sail my boat down to a Latin American country, I flew here. But, I did leave what used to be the land of the free and home of the brave. I found out that the places called dangerous by the U.S. government are nothing compared to the dangers of the U.S. We don't have any gangs or guns (to speak of) here. I have lived here in South America for over 15 years, and never had a problem with robbery.
