SteemReports - New Delegation Information Tool

in steemit •  7 years ago

In Steem you can not only use your own Steem Power for voting, but other people may choose to 'delegate' extra Steem power for you to use. Around 1600 (usually high value) accounts choose to do this so that they can distribute their votes more easily, in effect they are delegating curation to others.

I've added a tool which shows the current delegation state of any account you enter. It shows who an account delegates to, and who delegates to it, and is updated on a daily basis.

@Ned recently delegated a large amount of Steem Power to some other users, and you can see his delegation above and here.

Oh yes!
Thanks for the tool
I have just checked who I am delegating to
And it works well
Thanks for your hard work and dedication

Thats amazing! I always wondered where delegates come from while looking at other profiles. It's amazing but also kind of scary that everything we do on steemit is visible for everyone (except of encrypting our messages in memos)

While using blockchain technology, you will start to love this kind of transparency. But hopefully steem will get some anonymous features where the user can even have more freedom in the network.

Yes. Currently there is as far as I know no way to get content of the blockchain after the 7 day period. This makes it dangerous if people expose information that they might not want to expose in the feature.

Exactly, I hope there will be a feature soon where a user can have more decision about his data. Even like removing all of it for example.

I think that would require that the post/comments data is not stored in the blockchain, but some kind of off-chain database instead. It would take a lot of redevelopment work, but could be a good way to go.

Actually there's no way to get data off the blockchain at all (except a hard-fork). When you remove your vote or edit your comment, they are extra records being saved in the blockchain, but the originals are also kept, and can be viewed using some tools.

Yes, I love the transparency that it provides, but I can see how others might have different opinions. I always thought it would be fascinating to have Facebooks's data to play around with, and this is getting close to that kind of thing.

Yeah exactly, and even more interesting if you think about decentralised exchanges where everything is transparent and you can create really nice statistics out of this freely available data. The future is bright with cryptocurrencies.

Is there any set criteria for choosing people for the delegation or it's just a random action?

Oh yes. People who delegate choose who they wish to delegate to, how much, and can withdraw their delegation at any time in the future.

this is incredible, only been active here for a few days but i can tell the intricacy of this platform itself will make it a great place to grow!

Very cool! I've often wanted an easy way to track down who's delegating to who. I'll definitely be using this. Thanks!

Great addition to what was already one of the very best app. I'll probably mention it eventually. People need to have easier access to learn about those awesome apps.

Thanks for the support, I appreciate that.

Brilliant, I needed this!

Great addition to the reports. I believe this will be used quite often by many people. It makes it a lot easier than searching through multiple places. Thanks for adding it.

Wonderfully awesome tool! So much easier than extracting this directly from the blockchain, too!

amazing tool @steemreports upvoted and resteemed volunteerly ;)

This helped me a lot but still need answers. I looked up @blocktrades to try and figure out more and want to understand how I can delegate to that account or get delegation from and how it works.

You can normally buy delegation by paying them with Steem/SBD at https://blocktrades.us, but I just checked and see they're sold out at the moment anyway.

Great tool, thank you

Hmm... I'm trying to use it to figure out who is delegating to these spam accounts but it doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas?

I looked at the first three, and I think they are just getting their delegation from 'Steem', like all new accounts do. That delegation is excluded from the data, because there are too many records to collect.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I thought that might be the case.

How do I delegate? I am still a little fuzzy on that.
