Steemit is a bit overwhelming when you first join, I remember thinking how am I going to make any sense of this and find my way through it - it's a bit like being in a (very large) library where all the books have been thrown on the floor. I already knew someone, so I started from there and then built on that by exploring tags to find other people who were posting things I was interested in.
