Are you in favour of supporting Short posts on Steemit ?

Does Steemit have an identity crisis?

Don't worry this is a short post.
short or long post

Is Steemit a community for sharing knowledge, art , writing and discussion? Or a social network to share what your doing, hey look I'm at the beach. Oh here's a pic of my lunch , oh I'm sitting on a horse , look at my muscles...

Ultimately the community members and their upvotes will decide if short or long posts are preferred or maybe We can have Both.

Let me know your thoughts.

and other stuff TOO.
I've heard Steem compared to an ecosytem. An econsystem has lions and tigers and bears...oh my!.....and bugs. And plants and there might be a fungus among us

Why think small?
Why self limit?

I know there plenty of minnows and plankton, so maybe we are are immersed in a marine ecosystem Lol. I can't wait until we have our own video STEEMing option and Cut Herr Google out of the picture.

There's value in diversity

I say vive la difference. Viva la Steemit

After the announcement of a favourable response to #news, #til and what-was-the-third tags I did some short posts with links and ... they had better response than my average posts. More than 0, that is :)

So I am in favour of short posts.

But I would like to see long quality posts too.

Let's have the best of both worlds!

Ah yes a tag of short-post , news , snapshot or we can't call a short post a tweet but maybe a toot (like a short steam whistle)

It looks like @busy.org will cater to short form steeming :)

But their product will be available in a year at best. Until then let's make some #news, #til and #funny posts. See, I remembered the third tag :)

I think the SteemStagram will be the answer. Maybe Busy.org when it is ready. I have had a few short posts do well. I believe the quality just needs to be higher if is short.

Thanks for your comment @hilarski

I love this idea of having two Steemits - one for quality posting (I'd like to see it almost like a hubpages) - and "SteemStagram" for memes, short posts, videos and just to pop up a piece of art if you don't have time to write longer, formatted posts.
@timcliff - you should read @hilarski's idea and throw that on the Wish List.

I agree that it is a question for the community, and up to the voters. We already seem to be heading in that direction based on this post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@the-alien/announcement-jumpstarting-new-tags-rewarding-comments-boosting-engagement-and-going-viral

I'm not sure if any code changes are needed for this though.. It seems the current UI already supports both long and short posts. IDK if we want to head in the direction of splitting into multiple sites either. I kind of like having all the posts available to view through the one Steemit website.

I'm partial to keep on one site too but Instagrammers are all about short and sweet quick content with like and share options. A Steemstagram idea would cater to those people but perhaps with our Home profile pages here there could be thumbnails or links to those "sister" sites. It might pop them off forum but it's still expanding the use and mainstreaming of SP, SBD and STEEM. Food for thought.

It is indeed :)

Sister sites are going to be an interesting development in Steem's future. One really big thing that the community is going to need to figure out for this to be a success is the handling of private keys. Personally I have never used any site besides Steemit.com before that requires my private key (even just my posting key), and I probably won't in the future. It is going to be a hurdle that needs to be properly addressed (IMO) for it to be a success.

Why stop at 2 why not a Steemtube , tootter, Steemchat and Steembook

I think a single photo of your lunch is not enough for my upvote. I want a tiny bit of effort and thought please

I think so too

I am totally up for sort posts and vote on them often if I like them. Because half the time I dont... thats right yes have time for long posts. upvoted

Thanks for your comment and upvote

Succinct - (especially of something written or spoken) briefly and clearly expressed.

Maybe the better term for what's best for Steemit. Short might equate lack of effort.

I like it quality not quantity

I think the Steem platform should cater for all types of user. How that is presented is another matter. Ideally users should be able to choose what sort of content they see.

I think there is a place for short posts that may just be a link and "check out this cool thing". That may have value.

As our community grows it will form its own microcosms. People with different interests and motivations.

I think that ultimately, the market decides. As it should.

That said, I find it heart breaking that I worked for hours on a blog post that died at birth, and then made a quick image post that made money. :p

Screw you, Steemit.
(I'm kidding.)

Oh yes, I can feel your pain.
So much effort writing and proofing the post then getting the images to display, links and then choosing tags And you set it free into the wilds of Steemit and 24hrs latter. $0.18 :'( it can be disheartening )

Anything has the possibility to work on Steemit as long as it pleases people reading or watching it

I've championed #nuggetized tag for shorter posts - it appears to be taking off ever so slightly.

Wow this has been my commented on post so far. Thanks to everyone that's made s comment. I'll reply individually tonight.
