STEEMIT: With no fewer than 263,000 Accounts currently registered on STEEMIT, I am sticking with a Target of 650,000 at Year End, but we need more Marketing..!!

ACCOUNTS PER DAY - 2017

Number of Accounts per day in 2017 screen.png

Recently I set a Minimum Target of 650,000 Accounts by the End of Year and I am sticking with it with one proviso that there is more Marketing.

STEEMIT has witnessed an explosion in the number of Accounts registered over the last 3 months and this explosion needs to continue to surpass the 650,000 minimum target set.

Currently there are no fewer than 263,000 Accounts registered on STEEMIT and I have extracted the growth seen in June and July as follows:

1st June - 18th July = 96,898 Accounts / 48 days = Average of 2,019 Accounts per day.

12th July - 18th July = 14,115 Accounts / 7 days = Average of 2,106 Accounts per day.

With 166 days to go to Year End, based on an Average of 2,019 Accounts per day, this would equate to approx. 600,000 Accounts in total.

Allowing for a continued exponential growth witnessed from April, May, June and July I would expect to see this exceed 650,000 Accounts.

However, there is one proviso and that is: Marketing and Promotion.

Marketing and Promoting STEEMIT will be critical over the next 6-12 months and this phase gets underway I feel it will be important that this is recognised.

The timing of taking any product to market is absolute vital and should coincide with Product Development.

It does not matter what the product is, the principle is exactly the same, with a window of opportunity that ties into the demand from the market.

I strongly believe that the demand is there and with right Marketing and Promotion Campaign it would be like picking cherries of a tree..!!

So, is 650,000 Accounts achievable at the End of the Year?

Absolutely 100% ..... with more Marketing..!!

Thanks again for reading.

Stephen

That is all I do is spread the word about Steemit.

We need active users that are producing good content, ANDDDDD bringing money to the platform. (That is what helps it grow)

That's a massive growth but I have one suggestions who are marketing this platform. I myself is of the view that this community is not for everyone, we should inform creative, enthusiastic people about this community and not to those who will get messages from steamcleaners and cheeta!

oh - how I missed it in holidays..... Stephens cryptocurrency teletext :)

Greetings!

hahaha..... I may have to plug in the "Stephens Cryptocurrency Teletext Floppy Disc".. and do some good old fashioned Old School reporting..!! hahaha. Stephen

More marketing!

Here is a marketing effort that I am facilitating, which seems to have a lot of overlap with what you are doing. If you could let me know how many flyers you hang up in your area before the end of this month - I will count them towards the goal :)

https://steemit.com/recruitment/@timcliff/attention-community-please-help-with-the-10-000-flyers-marketing-campaign-everyone-can-participate

I totally believe that we the community should do our best to help promote STEEMIT, tell your friends tell your family... why are we making the fat cats like facebook and instagram richer - STEEMIT shares the wealth amongst its user base - once people understand that im sure we can decentralise social media and we can all share in its success. By using facebook we are essentially giving up our rights and all our personall infomation so they can make money from advertisers, as a facebook advertiser myself its quite scary how much info they hold on you!

what about referral system ?
i think if steem it have referral it will get more users quickly

I am not a massive fan of a referral system. Never have been. I strongly believe that the correct way is the Crowdsourcing route proposed. Stephen

Glad to hear that. Referral systems have two major drawbacks: it creates an incentive to spam, so people will see steemit in a negative light, and it diverts people's attention away from creating good content. If people think they can make money by referring others, before you know it we have many users who only put energy in getting more affiliate reward instead of writing and curating.

"If people think they can make money by referring others, before you know it we have many users who only put energy in getting more affiliate reward instead of writing and curating."

....I could not agree more. This is EXACTLY why I have never been a fan of a referral system for STEEMIT. For me the Marketing and Promotion HAS TO BE the Crowdsourced Route and nothing else. Thank you for the contribution. I appreciate it. Stephen

Shared on twitter. Stephen

Recently watched on Twitter. Itz amazing that steemit is reaching at new heights in a very short span of time.want to be a regular user of it.hope it will be of help to me in near future.

I'm sure that if we get 1Million users This will take the price Up, I have some experience in the stocks market and this will be a good marketing when all crypto news talk about the price and 1million anniversary, then we can get thousend of new user daily and will effect on the price for the long run @stephenkendal

Everyone I talk to about steemit just looks at me with a confused look on their face. Yes we need a good marketing campaign, I love the idea of the referral system @laxeno but would need to be well thought through. Thanks for sharing.

The Best Way Steemit Can Grow Is If Each Users Starts Donating Some Of His Amount For Some Good Work Towards Society And Leave Mark Of Steemit Community . We can Even Form Some Groups For Donating Some Amount To NGO'S or Needy People. I Am Sure Media Will Notice Our Work And Steemit Community Will Definitely Grow.

It is a very good point and is one of the things I am working on. Blogging for charities could be a massive boost for STEEMIT. Thanks for the comment. Stephen

Steemit is the way to go!!!

What is the churn though?

The data seems to proove out your theory. You are assuming it will follow a linear trend, wondering if will follow a compound rate similar to real world population growth. There is a critical point where it becomes "trendy" too and you may see a bump. If they market this at all, we're going to see a mass influx during the campaign. I think 600k may be conservative.

"I think 600k may be conservative." Thanks for the comment and support. I could not agree more. Stephen

especially when one considers the exponential growth of all other websites, platforms or technologies. It takes very little time these days for things to reach 1 Million after certain thresholds/critical masses are reached. Which I think, Steemit already has. 1/4 million, 1 year in.... still floating, thousands of happy successful examples of what can be done with the technology and now the word is REALLY getting out just as the price is dropping to make entry more enticing and affordable for late comers like me, who heard about Steemit a year ago, but neither understood, nor investigated the truth of the claims. Wish I had. But glad to be here with you all.

@stephenkendal hard to predict the growth, especially now... considering seasonal fluctuations .. it's gonna be less busy over the summer... but end of Q3 and Q4 we should see a MAJOR growth.... I also think that it should be easily over 650K!

Yes we need marketing!!

So what do you think will happen first... 500.000 users or Steemit going from Beta to Alpha?

Great story, I wonder how the growth here compares to Facebook and Twitter as they were starting up?

I think as more popular content creators continue to flow to steemit as their opportunity for growth is limited elsewhere will be all the marketing we need right now. Steemit and cryptos are still too new to people for mass adoption. Plus until all the bandwidth issues are addressed and the root cause solved, it would be a promotion of half working system.

I do agree. it is in all of our best interest to help grow steemit. Will benefit everyone at the end of the day.

Steemit is doing so well growth-wise.
We are seeing years of growth happening in just a few weeks.
Steem On!

If some content goes viral, or steem goes way up then I think it can even get to 700k.

Upvoted and RESTEEMED :)

@stephenkendal, Almost close to 1 lakh accounts in last 50 days. That's around 40% of total accounts in steemit came in these 50 days. That's really massive. I hope it reaches more masses and touch 6,50,000+ accounts by the end of this year.
I am a minnow here, just a month old and these are my thoughts.

  1. More accounts translates to more blogs. Now in a minute there are easily about 50 or 100 new blogs being posted here. So with say 650000+ accounts you might have say 200 or 300 blogs posted per minute, that is 5 blogs every second. (I am just assuming all these stats, it could actually be vastly different) anyhow with 5 blogs every second, the window of visibility is extremely short and limited for every post. If you are a whale or a dolphin, one self invite will put in upwards of a good double digit number in the payout section and the traction is guaranteed with the known list of supporting oldies and heavy weights. So they are good. But the newbies who are new don't have those luxuries. I have seen quite a few exceptionally good blogs by minnows which did not garner even a single $$. Some are consistently posting exceptional blogs but the response to their blogs are abysmal or non existent. I have seen frustrated comments by minnows as to why they are not getting any traction. Forget up votes. I am speaking of comments. A word of encouragement atleast is missing for thousands of minnows out there. So after 10 or 15 or 25 blogs, they just hang up their boots. It's already happening . So that means adequate citation is not happening. We need more curators from whale n dolphin community, who can add value and jack up these blogs. That is not happening at the rate at which the accounts are growing. It seems everyone have their own circle and upvote and comment within the confines of that circle. Very few might actually look the new blogs coming out, and take time to see if there are blogs that interest them or find any valuable blogs.
I believe many people can't afford to buy steem to increase their SP and increase their value in upcoming or commenting. Further with only 10 up votes per day (without diluting ones voting power), people are extremely cautious of using them judiciously (and minnows don't have slider in their votes, that comes after a while after accumulating some good amount of SP).
So if we are looking at growing up and seeing 3 times traffic compared to what is happening now, it is going to get more and more tougher for the new entrant to make a mark here as more and more people will be jostling to find a place in that small 13" laptop screen that every steemian keeps himself glued to. So how does it pan out to a new minnow joining in a few months time.

There are some valid points you make here. Thanks for the contribution. Stephen

If they can scale up recruitment we could have millions in that time. I expect the demand is out there once people know about it. There's a challenge in educating them to not try to spam the system.

yeah, wishful thinking :)

I am feeling it is still to skewed for the average punter to get involved in. With whales only contributing to themselves, having dual accounts to bump themselves it wont drag the masses. More needs to be done to level the playing field IMO. This is not the comment of a small player just an observation of the comments I get when trying to drag people over here.

Nice post though bud.

I have a friend trying to get an account started now and it is taking much longer than my day or two.... does anyone know the estimated time it is now taking to go from signing up, registering, getting confirmed and then FINALLY getting the password to start? Just wondering if it is possible that it might have been lost/cancelled. thanks @ecoknowme

Thank you Stephen. I have been following this thread fairly recently (under 50 days on Steemit). I know there are double digit Steemians that joined after I told them what Steemit is all about.

I also have contributed few ideas that every steemian can implement to bring multi-fold effect. Can you please check this and let me know your opinion (I am not looking for your upvotes but if you do find the ideas worthy, please share), this is a 'What if' Scenario if Facebook decides to start their own 'block chain' - social media reward system:

https://steemit.com/steemit/@rkreddy/facebook-announces-content-reward-system-is-this-the-end-of-steemit-as-we-know-it

is it possible to accounts by country?

what is tendency that when this platform reach 600,000 users it will hold its promised , because devil may loose its temper by many manipulation to scamming e.t.c

What is a new account? Just an account? Could that be a bot account?

I have a feeling if you were to shed away all the curation accounts, and comment bot accounts...

You might get different numbers. For instance all "active" accounts that were created and earned a root_post reward of more than $1.00 (which probably means they are an actual poster)..

We might see different numbers... but "on target" numbers and growth for actual human accounts.

I think that steemit will be the first social network in the world because it has the potential to be, it is a new concept different in the world in the social networks, it is time to invest a deep money And time
Thank you for this post , for me i do my best to promote steemit by creating a facebook group and steemit"s video in my youtube channel

Wow very interesting numbers. Don't you guys feel excited to be a part of something potentially huge when you share it with more or less 200 000? For what steemit is offering this number is absolutely nothing. Your prediction is 650k at the end of the year and it would be nice, for me it seems it grows exponentially i wouldn't be surprised it passes 1 million. Keep in mind beginnings are hardest and once it breaks some boundaries its going to the sky!

Maybe it would be a good idea, to introduce some Steem-bonus when you invite a friend.

Old school marketing is not necessary. I think this is a mouth to mouth thing. Plus every member is promoting this on their other channels on youtube, facebook and so on. I think the Steem-guys had just the right approach to this thing. First you attract the content producers, then the fans will follow automatically!

Im thinking of making Steemit stickers and handing them out wherever i go...

Word of mouth, and tons of emails...

If Steem trades at $6 in a couple of months from now... we could exceed our target

What do you think will make it hit $6?

The re-rating of entire crypto space is already underway.

In a Crypto Bull Market everything goes up..just like in the bull run of a stock market.

When ether makes new highs or in future when it hits $1000, now we have two crypto currencies accepted by people from an earlier one i.e Bitcoin

That makes the crypto space legit for people.

This is one point.

Secondly

Fb & team are over monetising spoiling they user experience...

Third

Last time when Steem was at $4 the crypto marketcap was under $10 billion but now it is $90 billion

So, now you know this time Steem should make a new high.. more so for its user base and alexa rankings are quickly advancing @avilsd

Makes sense?

As a steemian, what we can do is to introduce steemit to the people we know. I believe that accounts on Steemit will be soaring with the development of blockchain technology in the folllowing two years.

I can see it happening, I saw Udemy go to over 15,000,000 new students in about 4 years,as well as other companies, I have around 700,000 followers on twitter, so why could it be this hard here on a great platform. I am all in to help when ever I can.
