- “For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, HOW I PERSECUTED THE CHURCH OF GOD BEYOND MEASURE AND TRIED TO DESTROY IT.
- And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, BEING MORE EXCEEDINGLY ZEALOUS FOR THE TRADITIONS OF MY FATHERS."
- But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,
- to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood.”
Galatians 1:13-16 (NKJV)
• Paul wanted to serve God, KNOWS Him and be zealous for Him, however, he was sincerely wrong, and was heading towards destructions.
- He was fighting God when he thought to be serving Him: "... YES, THE TIME IS COMING THAT WHOEVER KILLS YOU WILL THINK THAT HE OFFERS GOD SERVICE" (John 16:2).
- The truth is, one can be sincerely wrong. Paul was sincere, but he was sincerely Wrong!
- He was fighting the God WHOM he thought to be defending until he had an encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus (Acts 9:1-9)
- Your passion gives birth to a vision. A vision usually starts with a dream.
YOU start seeing things that are wrong, that is, how things ought to be, or supposed to be.
IF you dwell on such a thought for a long time, you begin to have light, solution, on how what you have seen would be corrected, that is, the solution to the wrong you have seen in the vision.
OTHERS who are around you may not see the wrong, or may see it but are not moved or touched to do anything about it. It does not matter to them.
THEY may have accepted the status quo, they have seen it as the norm, but to you, it is not right. - If there is a Burden like that in your heart, you have birthed a vision.
- If you can give the issue a careful thought and consideration, and should seek the face of God in prayer in order to embark on it, it would become a reality.
• The new move of Christianity in the first century was obnoxious to Paul thus he took a campaign against it.
- He later found solution to the problem when he had an encounter on his way to Damascus (Acts 9:1-9).
- He later knew that the truth he was seeking for in Judaism which made him acquire all the knowledge about traditions of the fathers, was found in Jesus Christ.
- He said he advanced beyond his contemporaries and was exceedingly zealous for the traditions of his fathers, that is, Judaism religion (Galatians 1:14).
- When Paul had an encounter with Christ, he discovered that the path he was treading or following to get God was wrong, he could only get God the Father through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
- “For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
- though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so:
- circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;
- CONCERNING ZEAL, PERSECUTING THE CHURCH; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
- BUT WHAT THINGS WERE GAIN TO ME, THESE I HAVE COUNTED LOSS FOR CHRIST.
- Yet indeed I also count all things loss FOR THE EXCELLENCE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF CHRIST JESUS MY LORD, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, AND COUNT THEM AS RUBBISH, THAT I MAY GAIN CHRIST.”
Philippians 3:3-8 (NKJV)
• Paul counted things that were gain to him loss for Christ, he counted them as rubbish.
HE discovered, came to realize that knowledge in Christ Jesus is all he needed, not the traditions of the Fathers.
- All the whilst he was pursuing knowledge in Judaism, his heart was seeking to know more about God; he was however doing it in a wrong way.
- Note: If you desired to know God sincerely, He will reveal Himself to you (Matthew 5:6); though you probably have been doing it in a wrong way, through religions, or whatever.
- If you are sincere in wanting to know God, although you are sincerely wrong in your quest, He would still make Himself known to you (1 Timothy 1:13-15; Galatians 1:14,15; Romans 10:11).
- God would reach you at your level, whatever the level you are in your walk Him.
- “What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith;
- BUT ISRAEL, PURSUING THE LAW OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, has not attained to the law of righteousness.
- WHY? BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SEEK IT BY FAITH, BUT AS IT WERE, BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW. FOR THEY STUMBLED AT THAT STUMBLING STONE.
- As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
Romans 9:30-33 (NKJV)
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!
