Why is Steemit using Google Analytics and trackers?

I noticed that my Brave browser was blocking four items. See screenshot below.

I'm hoping any web devs out there can tell me how necessary is it to use these tracking tools on our decentralized and self-funding platform? Screen Shot 2018-02-15 at 5.42.06 PM.png

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
