Is it ok to Upvote my own Posts / Comments?

Hello friends,

I am a newbie to steemit. Got a quick question: Is it ok (or allowed) to “upvote” my own posts or comments? I notice that many authors do the same.

I haven’t changed my “automatic” upvote settings, since these upvotes may make my posts/comment appear above and perhaps a few cents earning as well. but is it a moral practice to upvote your own comments?? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam
