Hello Steemians,

I think we all agree that new users for Steemit is key for future success. Bringing them to Steemit is a challenge still. I encourage all of you to check the profile of @hilarski who is one of the main marketing forces behind Steemit

How to promote Steemit outside our platform?

Sharing your content across other channel is key to drive awareness for the platform and to attach great new content creators moving forward.

In this post @hilarski states a great analysis where most traffic comes from and also indicates a lot useful platforms he recommends.

I also use most of them but wanted to add some more you might find useful. Twitter, Facebook, Google+ are good for traffic, Pinterest in addition also for SEO. What I use and what help increases views is Flipboard. On Flipboard you can great books / magazines for certain topics other internet users can follow - Flipboard is available as mobile app for any device as well as for usage via your desktop browsers.

What is Flipboard?

Flipboard is a news aggregation and social network aggregation company based in Palo Alto, California, with offices in New York, Vancouver and Bejiing. Its software, also known as Flipboard, was first released in July 2010.

I use it since several years already for certain topics. Since I joined Steemit I make more use of this platform / app again. One example is my Beer Magazine where I add my and other's beer posts.

This is how the starting / profile page can look:

Take a look into an excerpt of the Beer Magazine below:

In general you can create magazines for whatever topic you want and then flip articles, videos, sound and images from anywhere on the web into your Flipboard magazines.

Some statistics from 2015 and 2016 below:

According to an article last month on Mashable the app now has more than 100 million monthly users, up from 50 million in February 2015. You can use it as mobile app as well as from your desktop browsers.

Why should you and Steemit Inc use Flipboard?

Flipboard is great for Steemians, internet addicts and even small businesses to tell their story - why?

1. You can curate a Magazine

Flipboard offers an easy way to create and compile a magazine that includes content from authority websites and prominent sources in your field. This can help to establish your relevant experience and increase your credibility with potential new customers or users.

2. You can Tell Your Story

Tell your audience the story of your platform, company, services by creating various magazines. Find, collect and flip content that contributes to your story.

3. Use it for Market Research

By checking articles from the competition you can find out a lot on what others do - how they position themselves - great source for your own market research.

4. Benefit from low cost advertising

Using the site is for free using the service as a publisher. Advertising costs for companies are a bit unclear to me still though but worth to check @zurvanic

What other social platforms would you recommend to push the Steemit vision?

Thank you for the tip. mabe it´s a good site to collect my poems. been looking for something like that.

That could be solution yes - and you can flip from wherever you have them on the internet to one magazine

Interesting! I might look into that once my time investment into my blogs settles down a bit.

Let me know how you get on or if you have questions @playfulfoodie

Very interesting post and tips! I'm using some different social media to share my art and my contents, but I think it's always useful to discover new way to do this ^^ Thanks for share ^^

Thanks @silviabeneforti - yes there are a lot platforms - apart from Flipboard i use daily Facebook, Twitter, G+, Minds.com and from time to time also dashburst, instagram, copromote - need to look back also into medium again

In the time, I saw that for my contents ( we have to choose our "channels" on how they work for different contents that we want to share and to catch the right target) facebook and twitter are working better than others. The first because it help me to connect with my local community using my profile, the second because the users are in the right age and interest to share my "products" ^_^ Instagram is good for me because when I use it I can share the same content also on twitter and on my page on facebook ;)

Excellent post dear friend @uwelang, thank you very much for all this information

Good post @uwelang! I actually find Flipboard quite annoying for some reason. Maybe I must put in a little effort to find out what it can do for me lol!

lol - thanks for the open words - i know some do not like it - i think it depends also on topics - merci @giantbear

I forgot about Flipboard. I used to use it a ton a few years back. It does work very well especially for mobile.

Thanks @hilarski - it is great for mobile but i mainly use it currently with laptop - love that Flip it button lol - not surprised you know it - need to get active again on medium a bit.
