Haha that's so funny and that may be the case for some newbies. However, I am so glad that I am not one of them lol Newcomers should really look for some useful tips and advice before getting their hands on.

Yes, that's so true!
I wrote a few posts about the subject and I just can't stress how important really good and high quality content is. I don't think there's anything more important than that, at least not if you want to get upvotes and followrs.
I tested this myself. I created a few small, really short posts featuring only a YouTube link and little bits of text, and I maybe got around half a dollar.
Then I wrote a few long and decent posts talking about how to succeed on steemit and about what "getting a life" means when being said as an insult from people, and I got $150 xD
It's funny how new people think they will get rich from nothing, without putting some effort in their work and without even trying to create high quality content.
Anyway, really nice post, it was fun to read. I wish you all the luck! :)

Lol.. very accurate.. although I will admit that I did 50% of what you mentioned.. The proper way to go about it is to wait and post quality stuff.. this is not facebook where you can sit on the toilet and post some crap.. lol.. your material should be worth other people's time and worth the rewards :)
Very nice post.. made me laugh :)

Lol.. i think it's a rookie mistake .. lol ... i think that the whole concept of being able to earn on your posts in so enticing that people go crazy and try all sorts of insane things to get that dough...but when their hopes fall flat on their face, they realize that time and quality make a big difference.

absolutely! that's a very good point. you are doing pretty good for someone who joined 15 days ago :) over a thousand posts? that is impressive :P I struggle with writer's block a lot. I used to write short stories often when I was in college. Somehow I have lost touch with that part of me. hoping to recover it now that I have joined Steemit :)
