We wanted people, there we go.
Now that steemit is blowing the hell up and tons of people are coming, it seems that the economy is getting ripped apart. The reward pool is being destroyed and there isn't much we can actually do.
The hard fork looked as a good idea but now it's depleting everything.
People that had previously 1k/2k payouts are now dropping to no more than 300/400$, not to talk about the minnows.
I have my posts going from 6$ to 4$ in a matter of hours and it continues to go down and down.
The other crypto currencies are taking a massive beating too which makes things even worse. Can't even think of what's going to happen after the soft fork of btc that is going to go through in Aug.
So what do you think is going to be done to help sustain the community? I love the initiatives that people are making to help minnows grow but really guys, were just blasting money in the air so everyone can catch a dollar or two and at the end of the day the people that can make a difference end up at the bottom. ( I am not adding myself personally to the list).
I hope that will be fine after hf20...

This is not about the massive amount of people coming in, this is about Steemit pulling back due to the massive price drop. @vangelov

I've only been a member for less than an hour and maybe what I'm saying here completely misses the point but there are a couple of things I noticed immediately:
When posting my first article, I had a hard time figuring out which tags to use. Maybe I missed something on the page but if I did then it means that it wasn't obvious. A list of popular categories on the 'post article' page would be great.
My feed is a jumble of articles. I am not interested in most of them to be honest. Having to sort through them to find something I am interested in is a hassle I don't want to go through. Some kind of filter would be nice. Could be based on tags for example.
I know this is a beta and therefor I'll stick with it. And the user experience will need to be streamlined.
Maybe people could recommend authors to each other so that new authors who write good content can get noticed. Maybe a filter on 'good authors' could be created alongside the tag filters. This has to take into account the fact that new authors don't have a reputation yet. It's probably also going to be a personal thing. You might love an author's work while it's completely useless to me.
These are just some musings. Always happy to dig in deeper if so desired.
