As a new Steem user who pretty much spent the first day just upvoting every post, I wish I had seen this first. Thanks for the information!

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam

    I feel you @versacepython. I did the same thing I upvoted others continuously and later when I hit 0% I was unable to vote.

    At that time I realised that something was wrong.
