Steemit's Dark Secret

in steemit •  7 years ago

There is something brewing in the belly of the Steemit community and it is slowly giving Steemonians a thought that society would think crazy. A desire we keep classified. For our eyes only.

With $3 Steem and $8 SBD, there is something possible for many Steemonians that they dare not speak about. Something they deeply desire, but don't fully allow themselves to think about...

Writing on Steemit full-time. Using Steemit to pay all the bills.

There I said it. Am I alone? We can't tell our friends and colleagues because they just don't understand... yet. Society says we need a job... You can't just make money on the Internet. Crypto is a ponzi-scheme. Most of the people will laugh at me and think I'm playing in the dark web and doing weird things with Bitcoin, so I keep my dark little secret to myself.

For me, it is something that I think about often. Being a full time Steemonian would require at least 8 or so hours a day engaging with people and researching and posting content.

If the prices stay the way they are, a person that makes a post and receives around $10 on Steemit, they will get about 5 SBD and some SP. The total value is something like $60. If that person was to post 4 blogs a day then they would make around $200 liquid a day. That is $1,400 a week or $5,200 a month. If you take it all out and save $2,000 a month for taxes you could walk away with $3,200 a month. I know that would pay my family's bills.

That doesn't count the extra money you can make just by giving good thoughtful replies to people.

Working as a full time Steemonian is a real possibility for a lot of people here.

I think we need some average full time Steemonians. They will work hard to add to the community because their livelihood will depend on it.  Now, these people are not making a killing and it will be a lot of work, but over time there is real possibility of advancement.

If the price of Steem and SBD double, then anyone making over $5 on posts could really look at going full time. The possibilities are endless with what one could do with Steemit if they had a little foundation.

For me, I'm working towards it. The reason this is my little dark secret is because I have not told anyone that I would love to be a full-time Steemonian. I'm not going to beg for votes and ask whales to support. I'm just going to keep growing organically and keep my little Steemit secret... for now.

That is very interesting. I'll give you a little support with my $.11 vote. I am glad you are finding some financial stability through Steemit. I think that is awesome. It is a lot more interesting than a job. lol
thank you for your support.

yeah bro...i'm improving day by day..thanks

Sounds like a great way to make a living. I'm sure it's happening already...

There are a couple of people doing it for sure. I'm still a good distance away from it, but considering making a run at it next year. At least double my time. I hope Steemit continues to grow. It could solve a great deal of financial issues for some people. Thanks for the support!

Man kann nicht einfach im Internet Geld verdienen. 🤔 😂sagt man mir auch😉😉

Ich bin froh, dass du gut gelacht hast. Ich wünsche ihnen einen wunderbaren Tag.

I gave you a 1% vote because my vote power is down under 50%, so tip! for the difference, roughly... lol! Yeah, I would love to see my husband's income replaced here. He already bought me my freedom, and I use it to, well, hang out on steemit!

Thank you so much for the support. I appreciate it. I'm glad you get your time to hang out on Steemit. I'm trying to figure out how I can dedicate more time to this wonderful site. Thanks again.

I feel your enthusiasm for blogging; posting; commenting. If you can do Steemit full time and make a good living, go for it.

That is very true. If steem goes up there is more money to be made from that. However you have to be careful because a crash in the price of steem or inconsistent blog success could make it hard. Heijin could do what he does full time but someone who does not have such a following would find it difficult.

@haejin really ought to consider a full time team. Perhaps if he'd used his resources to grow a better production facility, fewer of us would know his name, but he might have made more money in the short term by avoiding flags.

If he'd had a team, he'd have attracted less attention from flaggots, and this has made the flaggotry obvious to many more than it was before, so it's good for the platform, IMHO, just not maybe so much for @haejin.

I really don't know too much about the situation. I need to look into it more. Seems like there is a lot going on.

You are very right. I agree that the price is inconsistent, but I have not had many jobs that were too consistent for too long either, lol. It is a gamble, but if you're putting in the hours, it could pay off. The only way to do that would be not to work somewhere. It is an interesting concept. It would be difficult. Heijin could do it easier for sure, but as things grow I think accounts could grow and there could be some opportunities for some to go full time. It will be challenging for sure. Thanks for your insights and great reply. You got a new follower.

It's tricky but i think i would go fulltime on steemit, since am still a minnow rewards are not that amazing but with this growth i can make a living out of steemit. Am in Uganda Africa 5SBD may seem like little money but when exchanged to our currency it makes a very big difference. So i can go full time on steemit and buy more cryptocurrencies.

That is very true. I'm glad you have this opportunity. I have always just used Steemit rewards to buy more cryptos an only pulled out a little for Christmas this year. I wish you the best of luck man.

I have a writing gig, and I also teach, so Steemit is a good deal less than full time for me. But I can easily see how it could become a lot more than that. If STEEM goes up another .50 or so, it will become my fourth-largest writing-income-earner for the year, and I only really worked at it from May to August. If any of my other full-time gigs were to fail, I'd be here a lot more and do essentially what you said here. Solid post.

Thank you for the kind words. That is awesome you have some writing gigs. I'm actually trying to pick up more right now. I love writing, it really is my favorite thing to do. I appreciate the awesome reply and good luck to you!!! You got a new follower.

I love the idea of folks being able to not just make a salary here but doing stuff that they enjoy doing!
Kuddos to all who make the step into living the life they want!

Kuddos for sure... lol, it's a big step. Especially for the ones that would quit a job for it.

i'm fully considering this! i live in the woods off grid so my monetary needs are low, but i have never gotten paid at all for blogging! in two weeks my partner and i have made more money than what he got for a published book of his (in two years since publish date). so yes, i can write my life on these pages, share information and network with cool people and get paid. uh, YES! I'm in and we are definitely looking at it like a side (main) income LOL! telling all my friends. 4 have signed up so far... spread the wealth!

That is so awesome! I'm happy to hear you are finding success. There are a lot of people interested in of the grid stuff. I actually wrote a book on prepping. Thanks for the awesome reply. I am sure you keep posting comments and blogs like this and you will be even more successful. Good luck!

Highly rEsteemed!

Thank you very much!

Obviously, someone that wasn't here for the $0.07 steem, who missed the breaking of the reward pool.
If you are not financially independent or in a third world country, I wouldn't recommend it.
My not recommending it doesn't make it wrong.

You are very correct. It could really work to provide income for people looking for work, but to support a family by itself is a ballsy move. One I'm not willing to take. I own my own small business and manage a few clients in the digital marketing space. I make some residual from ebooks and classes I have out there, but I could drop one main client that pays about $2K a month and takes up a lot of time with more dedication on Steemit. That is the direction I am going with. Just a replacing a client with Steemit. Seems possible. Then again, I could keep doing it the way I am and just dump all extra sbd into crypto and buy back in if Steem takes a big plunge again. I agree with you 100% and I really appreciate the honest feedback.

Im new to steem but definately resteeming this . i invested in steem before even using the site as i could totally see the value in people using this as a fulltime income great post

Hi @walkingkeys! You have received 0.1 SBD tip + 0.02 SBD @tipU from @fishyculture :)

Check out new tipuvote! feature :)

awesome! Thanks.

"Most of the people will laugh at me and think I'm playing in the dark web and doing weird things with Bitcoin, so I keep my dark little secret to myself." Hahahahaha! So true! Thank you for the laugh! Yes- Being a full time Steemian would be great! I agree that it should be organic.

I'm glad you got a giggle. Thanks for the kind reply and being full time would be awesome. Organic is the way to go, but more reliable in the long-run. Thanks for the reply.

Too late! You've revealed your little secret now.

Aaaaand, I fully support it. Dreem on and Steem on!

Thanks!

Thanks man! I appreciate it. You have a new follower.

Nice post

Hey, thanks man! You know what... you got a new follower for that.

I've been working 9-5 or more for 11 years now.. being introduced with steemit, to be honest, I am looking forward to quit my job and be a fulltime steemonian.. Nice write up @walkingkeys

Well if you can do 3000 a week with the current system it might see Bitcoin level returns later if you hold onto the steem ^^.

Yea minnows have to work for it.. I’m not begging either man moving from the ground up. Starting from the bottom 😎✌🏾 Hope to see u at the whales table soon 💯

I've been daring to dream a similar fate for myself, living off of crypto investments, Steem included, and just do whatever I feel like with my life because going to 5+ years of University to get a job that I'm potentially tied to doesn't much tempt me, nor have I found a passion that would carry with me such a long time.

But it's a bliss I got into crypto this year because I'm tied to my civil service ending until next year's autumn until which I have plenty of time to work with Steemit and my investments. We'll see how things turn out by then.

I'm not sure if the post is slightly tongue-in-cheek - probably because of my ignorance of anything tech stuff and my newness on Steemit - but it's entertaining.
Wish you success uncluttered by begged for votes and whale support. I'm considering the same path myself.

I’m on Steem specifically because I have spina bifida and live on $730/m SSI. Most months I struggle to pay the rent, I’ve lost over 100 lbs in the last year, and most of my back teeth.

I don’t just want to find a way to make Steem into a full time job, I need to. It’s just difficult when you don’t have a college degree or anything like that...

I hadnt thought about the math sincr the prices went up, but thats a great formula for a lot of people. I dont post as often as id like but now that im reafing this, ill have to give it more time and effort. ;) cheers and thanks.

Great post @walkingkeys. We do need those transaction fees to come down though. :(

Nice. I like your math. And, to think, I make half that after 30 yrs teaching. I may just hop on this idea :) Good luck to you. I enjoy your blog. Keep up the good work. Blessings 2018
