Basic Tips For New Users And AMA About Steemit

in steemit •  7 years ago

Hey people of steem,

I will be on for the next couple of hours or so working on articles for this but in between I will be checking this post and answering any questions you might have about steemit. This is for newer users. Feel free to ask anything even if you think it is a dumb question. It is new tech so it makes sense if it takes time to learn.

But here is a list of some small tips to help you get started:

-Use a profile picture. You can edit one of the freer photos from pixabay or take a photo with your phone of something.

-DO NOT SPAM. Nobody on this site likes it and when you spam the comment section you are not looking too good.

-Try to make a catchy title, but be honest, we don't need lying clickbait.

-Same with the photo, make sure you include one and try to make it eye-catching

-Be friendly... this is more a life tip but it works well here :).

-Post about photography, cooking, gaming, you have to have hobbies.

-Comment on people's post, they might even upvote you.

-If you plan on staying here power up your steem it adds to your voting power.

-OH AND DO NOT PLAGIARIZE

Please leave your questions below.

i'm new here (2 weeks) and i've been writing something everyday about things i like but i find it really hard to get the upvotes and i don't think that my writing is THAT bad :)

It's nothing to do with quality this site is really busy and I a lot of posts are unseen. Try commenting and see if that helps. See, here is an upvote

Will do, thank you so much!!

Hey mate, I guess my question is

What is the one thing; be it buying votes, posting consistently, commenting, or sharing your post, that has most help you grow your account the most? - Thanks

Straight up buying steem but that has gotten expensive. I bought some for 7 cents at one point :p. Buying votes is good to get on the trending list and building an audience but you won't make much steem. Try to find contests, they are usually the best way to make steem. Commenting on poeple's accounts is good but they need to be thoughtful (no spam).

Would you consider doing a small post about good places to buy votes or other options to build an audience? That would be really helpful. :)

Thank you for such useful information. My advice which was due to my experience for new users is making quality and honest comments.
You see when new user come on board mostly those that do not have existing friends on the platform they firstly would need to make friends. This is made easy be making honest and quality comments on favorite bloggers posts addressing the subject of the matter.
Basic recommendation, new users should make about 50 honest comments before making a post. This is like making 50 friends before making your own post. Then your post gets viewed by at least your already made friends.
I’m crystal sure this works.

I agree if you ask questions when you have them and write things that interest or intrigue you if a good following is what youre after. If youre trying to hit trending 24/7 write things that are flashy, eye-catching, and applicable to everyone using this medium.

Thanks for your good advice.I am new in steemit.

ELI5 Question: What exactly are witnesses and what do they do? Is there a difference between being in top 100 vs top 20? What benefits do they usually get?

I've read some general posts about what witnesses are but it is still confusing. :)

Not my area of expertise but they help run the steem blockchain. It is run on different nodes (how to keep it decentralized) and the top twenty vote to switch their version when a hardfork is decided on. Maybe someone else can take this one... They do get steem for their efforts, I know that.

I really appreciate you posting like this. It could really help new users, like me. I have no idea how this works but I like posting here because I feel people will hear my thoughts. Other posts were not noticed though but I know it will take time. Now I am planning to buy a very good quality camera to help me with my blogs. Thanks man!

I like this publication, it is very useful, thank you for creating it, well ... I have many questions, I have already overcome some, so I will do 2 at this time. .. 1) why lately I have seen that when I vote instead of adding, rest. that is, if the post has 0.21 when I vote instead of going up to 0.22 it goes down to 0.20. why will that happen? and 2) If I vote in publications of 2 or 3 days, would I be earning any profit or should I just vote for what they have less than a day to be able to receive a profit? I hope your valuable answers and thanks in advance.

Be friendly... this is more a life tip but it works well here :), One of the truest comments ive seen. it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

Hi I am join steemit just 1 week ago.I do not understand how to get good number of up-vote.Can you help me?

I have a question i can't seem to find an answer for.
When i 1st started i would get author rewards that included Steem/Steem Power/SBD

My last few posts have only been paying out in Steem Power/SBD. No Steem.

What triggers Steem payouts ?

Also if I get someone new to sign up can I delegate power to speed up their sign up ?

Thank you for your time and doing this AMA

This link could help you understand that:
https://steemit.com/steem/@tarazkp/the-sbd-steem-debt-and-payouts

Seems to happen whenever STEEM price fall so low which means low marketcap. The mechanism tries to kick in as not to go too far into debt.

thank you so much

You know I really don't know why they stopped with the steem, I would guess it is because SBD and steem value are close right now and steem was given to gap that difference.

Steem payouts are once a week, but popular posts can be an extra day or few hours.

You can use anon to make accounts https://anon.steem.network/, but it cost money.

I got flagged twice for voting for and commenting positively on a post abuser. Any remedy to boost my rep besides comments or money?
Also have you heard of free wallet? It has a icon that resembles steemit icon. Also is our work safe as far as copyright. I have been thrust into enjoying the writing contests. I love it here.
Thank you @whatageek I have soo many more questions.

I think commenting is the way to go if you're a beginner.
Your posts won't get much visibility so even if it's great quality it'll go unseen

Thank you, these tips are helpful and easy to apply. :)
I am also new on steemit and I think getting involved with the community (commenting, being active in discord groups etc.) really helps not only to generate upvotes but also to stay motivated.

If you are going to give me one advice about what to write about on steemit to gain upvote. What topic would it be?

Sorry no real answer to that, it depends on the interests of people with a lot of Sp. you want to write what you like so you don't get too frustrated when you make a post that doesn't make a lot of money.

good day, I wanted to know if voting in a post where 100 people have already voted would get some profit? What is the best time to vote for a publication to win?

How do i get to tag a fellow in this platform?

use their @ name @teezyx25
