Why Steemit Is A Giant Circle-Jerk And How To Make It Work In Your Favor

in steemit •  7 years ago

I started this blog because I wanted to make money. I came to Steemit, saw a bunch of people getting paid stupid amounts of money to post retarded shit, and was like, "I gotta get me some of that."

Then I get here and realize that it was all fake. The upvotes were all purchased. The only people who were getting "organic" exposure were semi-hot girls who posted pictures of themselves and wrote a few uninspired paragraphs about their boring lives. Sad.

So what's a guy to do?

Well, I mean now that you know the system is fucked, you might as well do what you want, right?

Wrong.

You still want people to read your work, don't you? Do you think they're going to want to read your poem, manuscript, or short story if you're just another nobody? No.

You need to BE SOMEBODY for them to care. You need to be famous for some reason. I don't care if you're famous for doing tutorials on YouTube on how to fix your computer - you have to be well known.

People need to recognize your face, they need to recognize your voice. They need to know your style and be like, "You're reading a @yallapapi post aren't you? I can tell just by looking at it."

I mean let's face it, your short story is pretty stupid anyway. Your poetry is trite and your articles are full of spelling and grammar mistakes. You're not even very intelligent. Average looking at best.

So what's the great equalizer? Yeah okay, fame. But what about before that? Because fame takes a long time to create.

Money. Dinero. Cashola. With that, you can do whatever you want.

First you get the money, then you get the power

Steemit is a perfect example. I wrote for YEARS on various platforms and not so much as a tumbleweed blew by to take a shit on my tens of thousands of words that I carefully crafted into hobo-esque scrap-metal word-sculpture masterpieces like this one. But now I can just pop over here to this wonderful "blockchain" platform, pay a couple bucks in fake internet money and boom - instant celebrity.

It's crazy how people equate high cost with high quality. But look, I do it too. If I see a post that's only got $0.09 worth of upvotes I think, "Meh, probably garbage."

But then I scroll the Trending page and see some of the most stunning works of art I've ever seen. I need but read a few words, and I'm sure that they'll all go down in history as some of the most inspired literature ever to grace our mortal-minnow eyes.

Let's take a look:

How to Evaluate Cryptocuyrrencies in this information Jungle?!?

-Capitalization errors in the title. Unoriginal premise that's been beat to death. Inane and uninspired writing. Generalizations galore. I used to wonder how this could possibly earn so much money, but now I know - paid upvotes.

Streaming on Dlive

-Uninspired title. Meager information in the article. Basically an update post: "hey guys here's 200 words about what I learned in 4 months on #DLIVE. Did I mention #DLIVE? Because if I use the tag #DLIVE enough then #DLIVE will upvote my post and give me sweet, sweet money. #DLIVE #DLIVE #DLIVE #DLIVE #DLIVE."

Oh, you didn't know? Posting about other projects that use the STEEM blockchain get lots of love from Steemit staff. My first video on dtube got a vote from the dtube account worth $16.

In fact, if you take a look at the trending page, you'll see that the category of most of the main posts have to do with the STEEM blockchain.

MyPictureDay Challenge Round #18 + Winners announcement Round #17

-I guess this one's alright. It's a contest that rewards people for their submissions. The winner is given 20 SBD. So naturally people will actually try and submit something of quality, because there are no paid upvotes on user-run contests. Food for thought, eh @ned?

I filmed this video of @ned @pkattera and @sneak talking about the SMTs and the future of Steemit

-Jesus talk about brown-nosing... this guy is a superstar. Wait wait, I'm sorry. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Don't hate the player, hate the game. 3 times so you'll remember.

FollowBTCNews Witness Update: Super Powered Upgrades for RPC Node, Witness, and Steem.Chat Servers

-I'm too dumb to actually understand what any of this even means. And if I'm too dumb to understand it, that means that 99% of the people on this platform are also too dumb to understand it. And THAT means that there's no way anyone would have upvoted this because they thought it important, noteworthy, or groundbreaking, let alone a quality piece of writing. Sounds like paid upvotes to me.

ADSactly on ADSACTLY - Part #42 - CurveCoin Club

-Same problem as the previous article. What the fuck does this shit even mean? Judging from the comments nobody understands either. Just your typical $0.01 upvote-hunting Pakis with their colorless, oxygen-wasting words.

That said, props to ADSactly for how they run their account. Genius.

Two Ways to Earn With SmartSteem: Do the Smart Thing!

-I can't talk shit about @SmartSteem as I use them for paid upvotes all the time. Their article is too complicated for me to spend time reading but they're obviously trying to promote whatever they've got going on over there. A paid upvote bot making the Trending page. I don't know, is that ironic or unironic?

Cosmetic and hygienic

-I really don't understand this. It's a product placement for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics. A poorly written article, even by Steemit standards, that's been upvoted out the ass by some powerful bots.

Spelling errors in the title even. Was this written by the 57 year old media manager of Elizabeth Arden who doesn't know how to send a text message, let alone format posts?

Was their head marketing guy like, "Okay guys, we're going to do a product placement on Steemit, but so people don't realize we're just astroturfing, we'll make it seem like a random non-native English speaker wrote it. Then we'll just buy upvotes!"

Homey The Clown don't play that shit

I'm done. If I believed that intelligent people upvoted this because they thought it was entertaining, high quality or valuable beyond a moderate ego boost to the person it's written about, I'd lose even more faith in humanity.

But THESE are the posts regurgitated by Steemit's million dollar algorithm - the ones that it deems most worthy of your attention. I could be wrong, but shouldn't the most highly rewarded pieces on this platform actually be the pieces of the highest quality - not just the most heavily promoted?

Or at least the most shareable, in order to draw people from Facebook, Reddit and other social networks? Wouldn't that make more sense?

I'll be honest with you - I don't bring this up because I actually care about any of you. I really don't. Sorry. I have enough money to upvote my own posts to the top of the Trending page if I want. I know which bots to use, how to use them and can handle losing money if it all goes to shit. I can get eyes on my writing no matter what.

I've also been writing for years and know how to make you think specific things when you read words in a certain order.

But what about you? Are you a girl with big tits? Do you want to write about something other than one of the sidechains of the STEEM platform?

I'm willing to bet most of you aren't, and don't. And like I said earlier, it doesn't even really matter, because in all likelihood your writing is garbage anyway and nobody would want to read it even with all the paid upvotes in the world.

But that's the thing: with this system, your content doesn't need to be good. Your videos don't need to be cleverly-edited like on YouTube.

Yes, I said it. The dreaded Y word.

And guess what, Steemit circle-jerkers: this platform will never, ever, ever, ever EVER in a million years reach the level of popularity of YouTube, Medium, Twitch or any of the services that it's blatantly trying to copy for that exact reason. Let me spell it out as clearly as I can:

On Steemit et al, user posts are given substantial exposure only from upvote bots, Steemit staff, and a handful of high-SP accounts. Upvote bots are for-profit entities with selfish interests. They provide a service in exchange for money.

The staff have a vested interest in seeing their platform grow but don't want to seem biased towards non-staff non-whale users, so they upvote Steemit "news" items and other platform-related content. But they don't know/care that nobody outside of developers who build on the STEEM blockchain actually give a shit about those things.

Nobody cares about developments in the STEEM ecosystem, or what @ned et al said in some video.

So why does that shit get upvoted? Because we're all human beings, virtually incapable of seeing things from another person's perspective. Shit, if someone posted a video of me saying intelligent things about a technology company that I created, I'd upvote that shit too. All in the name of "the platform."

Viral content on Steemit? LOL

But does that mean it's a "good piece of content" by traditional standards? Is that video of @ned et al going to go viral on Instagram? Will people on Reddit give a fuck about what he says? Will anyone other than the Paki upvote-hunters and Steemit circle-jerkers care about the contents of that video?

No, no and no.

One piece of the puzzle that this platform completely misses is the fact that if the goal is to get people to come on this site and spend time here, there needs to be a reason to do so OTHER THAN MAKING MONEY.

This place is full of "me too" wannabes who sadly think that if they just work at it long enough, if they contribute enough "quality content" to the system, if they're just patient enough, if they just give it enough time, if they just comment enough on other posts, if they just give selflessly without thinking about what they'll get in return, that someday they'll also see dollar signs and triple digits at the bottom of their posts.

Sorry buckos, that's where you're wrong. Look at the trending page. That shit is pure, hot steemy (pun intended) garbage that wouldn't be accepted on ANY professional news site. Full of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors, bland content and poor formatting. It wouldn't go "viral" on any platform that wasn't paying up the ass to give it exposure. It's propped up by fake internet money - then rewarded with more fake internet money.

And you know what's funny? I used to be like that too. Go back and look at some of my first posts. I was trying so hard to behave myself. Everyone on this platform seemed so optimistic, so full of hope. We were all in this together, well on our way to getting rich from the magical blogging platform that pays you crypto for posting and commenting.

I mean, if some dumb ass girl could make $86 from her 150 word intro post with a few pictures of her playing with her dog, then an intelligent person like me should be able to rock this fucking place, right?

No.

Where's @GrumpyCat when you need him? He's right to try and impose some order here, but he's fighting for the wrong cause. Who cares if people upvote 3.6 days after they post? It's not about the money, my brother. Why don't you make yourself useful and flag all the low effort shitposts? What about the worthless "me too" comments?

Oh no, but that would be too much work. Easier to just run a filter for people who use bots that vote after 3.5 days. Like that's going to change the order of the Trending page.

You can't grow this platform without good content. Good by normal standards, not Steemit circle-jerking Kool-Aid-drinking please-follow-me-sir good. Eventually people realize that it takes money to make money. And most people are broke, definitely not about to spend the $300 - $400 required to boost a post to the Trending page, let alone do it on a daily basis.

Yes, Steemit is a mostly laissez-faire ecosystem. Love it. I'm a capitalist to the max. But why why WHY is there no incentivized curation BY STEEMIT STAFF for quality blog posts? Some autistic paint chip-eating bork posts literally anything to dtube/dlive/deeznuts and they get free money and a participation trophy, but the quality writing - the medium with the highest volume of submissions - disappears into obscurity, buried beneath mountains of low-effort shitposts and paid upvotes.

I can't stop raving

I knew there was something wrong with this place when I saw how positive everyone was all the time. I even felt myself doing it too. After all, I didn't want to get flagged or downvoted for being a Negative Nancy.

But now that the Kool Aid Blinders are off, I can see the light. And the more money I spend, the brighter the light gets. I'm going to spend more on this stupid post than I have on all my other stupid posts. I'm about to drop $800 on this bad boy and link to it from my Instagram.

Why? Because I'm a vain ass motherfucker who wants as many people to read my trash writing as possible. Just like you. And by writing something controversial, criticizing the system and calling out a bunch of people by name, AND SPENDING LOTS OF MONEY, you're all going to know who I am.

Instant fame. An overnight success, that only took me 34 years.

You want to make a name for yourself? You want to get people's attention? Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn't be on here. You'd be writing in your diary with a pen and hiding that shit in your desk.

You're here for the same reason I am: attention, recognition, fame, fortune, money. That's what you want. Admit it. You think you're going to get it by creating "quality content?" You think it just "takes time?" Give me a fucking break. That's what they tell you to get you to contribute until you're blue in the face OR until you break down and start buying upvotes.

All good baby. I've got the money and I can type 100+ WPM. You think I made an outline before posting this? This is an hour of freestyling straight up invented on the spot from my brain.

But what about you? Look I'll tell you the truth right now... it all comes down to one thing. How bad do you want it? Is it a must-have or a nice-to-have? Are you 34 years old, burnt out from 7 years of selling hair straighteners and looking to finally get your shit together so you can start banging a different hard-bodied fitness model every night on your reputation alone?

Or are you one of those people who says "money isn't everything?"

You want to get known in this world? You want people to recognize you on the street? You want brands to approach you and offer you $10k to wear their hoodie?

Make a scene. Get loud. But do it with style. Do it so well that they can't just write you off as a degenerate troublemaker who's just bitter that he has to work harder than a girl with big tits to make a little money.

It's not easy. But trust me, it's worth it.

What do you think about the way content is curated on Steemit?

Always remember: Steem - including all of the interfaces (Steemit/Busy, Utopian, d.tube, dmania & Co.) is still very very very ... very new.

Especially from a tech point-of-view.

And there is also a reason why Steem and Steemit are both still in official beta status:

My opinion is that everyone here should be grateful about having the chance to work with such an incredible technology - even if there are some problems.

I mean - where else are you able to earn like on Steem through blogging and making contributions?

Thanks for your important comment.

Sadly nowhere.

That said, I'm not aware of anywhere else where you can pay to get such good exposure for your writing, either. And people are incentivized to comment on it.

But to lead people to believe that there's a chance they're going to make any money here without copying Twitch IRL's style is bordering on unethical.

People make money, you deluded yourself into thinking that bots or whales change the fact that people make money without those things every single day.

Someone here is deluding himself but I doubt it's yallapapi. Where do you think the money is coming from?
If this ecosystem would work as advertised than you would have a ton of people reading a mediocre poem (cause what poem isn't mediocre?) and go like "hell yeah, I tip him $ 0,30 for that." And then he would go and upvote another 5 interesting posts for the day. He would donate up to 1 or 2 dollars a day of his OWN money to complete strangers?
7 to 14 $ a week?
30 to 60 $ a month?

Since when are people on the internet so generous that this is happening on a daily basis?
Look at some famous quality youtubers and their patreon accounts. Sometimes they got millions of followers and barely a few hundreds patreons.

Why am I deluded? I contested that people make money here, regardless of style, and I see no reason to think otherwise. Do you know where the "money" is coming from, because we can explore that if you honestly believe that "Investors" is the source.

okay, so where is the money coming from? I'm all ears

From the demand for steem and sbd. The demand itself. What demand? For an open source, transparent and decentralized, censorship proof social media/forums platform, as long as the demand exists value will keep piling up.

The value droped hard since december.
https://www.coingecko.com/de/kurs_chart/steem-dollars/usd

But even if it wouldn't have: Just because some people buy SBD that doesn't mean that a content creator here on steemit gains additional SBD. He only would get additional SBD if someone who bought SBD would transfer it to his steemit, convert it to steempower and upvote the content creator (effectively tipping him with his own money).
But this kind of generosity isn't seen often in the internet.

Please what do you mean by copying Twitch IRL's style?

I could be wrong, but shouldn't the most highly rewarded pieces on this platform actually be the pieces of the highest quality - not just the most heavily promoted?

I almost wanted it to say "heavily promoted pieces of shit" lol

got my upvote just for that quote, even though you're talking shit about my meetup (brown nosing @ned) and everything else, but you're pretty right on. I appreciate your candor and the quoted point.

This guy, funniely enough, is exactly what Steemit needs right now.

Respect

I'm like who the fuck is @ned but then I looked him up and @ned is a ballin ass motherfucker lol
keep spittin that fyre @yallapapi burn this bitch down if you gotta

This my friend is an epic piece of realism!
The main point for me is that "we" need to find a way to attract content consumers without the monetary incentive. This is what I'm saying all the time. On every social media site there are only 5% people who are content producers, 5% people are able to write 1-2 sentences comments that make sense and 90% consumers, who are just passive consumers of content.
These 90% won't earn anything at all, but without them we are left with said circle-jerks and the 10% elite masturbators. This is not a business model, that is sustainable. That being said, I have no idea how to tackle this problem other than using different incentives for consumers, that are no based on money.

Thanks for the post! It's tough finding your way around here, especially when you're first getting started and probably new to crypto. We need more good resources to help people get off to a strong start to increase the excitement in the platform! Thanks again for the post!

Interesting .. I liked your criticism
For more creativity and good work guys
Great post

I am ready to see this go to 800, and I wonder about the reactions. Maybe I’m still naïve trying to write good content, instead of flashing my big tits.

promises, promises ... ;-)

Lol

😂

"Use 'em if you got 'em" they say lol... I guess I'm naive too so that make two of us.

I got a good ass as well. Sorry, I meant to say brain, ... repeat after me brain, brain....

brain. though the others aren't bad to have.

True, I’m not unhappy with the combo. ;-)

HA! I'm sure others aren't unhappy either.

Omg (I whisper) I think I've found my spirit animal😂😂🤣

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Ok maybe I’m not that intelligent, as I don’t understand what you commented on?

It was your first comment. It blind sided me and I legit laughed out loud... at work. It was the flashing the big tits instead of writing quality content part. I don't know why it made me laugh so hard.

Maybe it's the stone cold truth that big tits really can get a person places (from what the original poster was saying).😂😂. That and the original poster made this all so hilarious.

I'm sure this is the internal conflict of many women. I want to work hard and make a name for myself 😀😃 but on the othet hand.. I so have these boobs and it's not like they're paying rent.🤔🤔🤔
😂😂😂😂🤣 lol!

I was just thinking if you can't beat them flash your tits.lol

It was the spirit animal that confused me. Yes, you got me completely right, it pisses me as an intelligent woman, that woman can earn more money with their body then their brains. And this might piss men off that are writing good content (or trying to), but it pisses woman off as well. And I even enjoy to see a nice pair of tits. So I am not biased against tits, to be clear on that part. Actually, biologically, men and woman (heterosexual) alike, like to see tits, as its a supernormal stimulant ( biologically). And as a men, if you stair at them 10 minutes a day, you live longer ( who ever invented that science experiment was a genius).
Im glad I made you laugh!

I get that. I can see how it can frustrate both men and women alike. I try to cultivate from my mind and do things with my brain as we all know beauty fades (so I think it's a better investment for me anyway). But it, as a woman can be soooo tempting to join in when you see other women making bags of money just sitting there looking nice. Which is fine if that's your talent I guess. haha.

Men can't get too mad, a lot of these people's fans tend to be people of the opposite sex (if you're a woman mostly men) who support them.😂😂😂😅

Thanks for replying. In the end I'm too shy to get my boobs out hahah. I'll stick to doodling.😅😏🤓

Clearly (to me anyway) the answer is to doodle your tits and post the doodles. Voila!
(you can thank me later)

Genius!!!🤔😉

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Actually, if you ever put yourself on display, heck, I’ll upvote you, just because you got the guts

hahahaha

Lol. I like doodling!

If that were true, I'd be immortal

There must be an optimal boob staring time curve. So eventually it will take years off your live, especially if it also includes other activities at the same time.

Maybe you should try 😂 JK

Luckily I have a daytime job, am financially independent, and don't have to. But Im almost intrigued to see if it truelly would work.

Your post was really entertaining and full of skepticism and complaints about the content quality on Steemit. I totally agree that most trending post are totally crab and would never earn that much money or attention on any other platform out there. But the thing is that Steemit.com is missing so many elementary basic features like. good a search engine for content and Users, feed/follower filters, community and group organization options and so on.... that means right now we are dealing with totally unfinished product that generates money like crazy. Sure most users here will take advantage of it, and do all kinds of shenanigans for profit.
With the implementation of more technically features we will also see more improvement of the general behavior and perception by the Users. Imagine when how things will change when we have the community feature and Admins will be able to control the flow of Bots and User that are just trolling and spamming. Anyways thanks for your thoughts and only time will tell where things are going!!!

A brutally honest summary of steemit! I hope some of the people from the trending page see this post and see what the community actually thinks about their so called trending posts, good job!

I almost never look at trending or hot (what is difference between the two anyway). There is nothing interesting to see there. I sometimes look at new for a random gem.

Tags and the postings of those you follow are far more interesting.

100% agree. It takes some time but once you have a solid base of people you follow, this platform is great.

The trending page however get's an F-

Just like in real life, advertisement is what makes something to trend. And that means paying money to bots. So there is nothing wrong in calling it trending, since it doesn't mean quality.

I hope some of the people from the trending page see this post

I couldn't resist....Bawaahahahahahaha! aka...lol!

For the 1Kth time:

THEY DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are tooooooo busy making money; though, I'm beginning to question just how much of the money in their payouts is actually landing in their WALLET.

I do believe that eventually someone will create a STEEM platform solely for bloggers. On second thought, scratch that! Why should they when they can make real money on other platforms related to Steem, i.e. Dtube, DLive, et al?

The only way things may change is if every penny earned was powered down; and, every SBD earned was cashed out. Should this happen, it's more likely that the rules will change for dispensing money, more than the goings on with the platform.

All is well. Eventually Steemit is going to be more about people wanting to grow their niche. This will have very little to do with generic blogging; and, more about incorporating SMT into their entrepreneurial ventures.

I write cathartically. What I earn is something to invest in the crypto pool...eventually dispensing eggs out of the one basket.

Peace.

Perhaps that blog platform will appear on EOS

Perhaps; but, if we stay mindful that the survival of the Steem community relies on income-driven resources, the generic blogs of planktons/minnows will only represent a small slice of the earnings pie, no matter the platform.

Everything is in the baby-steps mode; and it will be interesting to see in a few years the success of BTS, EOS, et al.

Best regards!

Peace.

For mid term success of the Steemit platform quality is critical. Focusing on wealth inflation will kill it. Pure speculation: probably the key reason Dan left Steemit.

Interesting observation... ✌

yeah they don't give a fuck. they know they don't need quality posts. they make enough money from the bot services.

Nice Video Sir! I veru much like. Upvoted an resteem! Pleese Sir fallow me!

Wow great post. I keep getting frustrated for spending hours writing good posts and haven't received much rewards. Meanwhile, semi hot girls are making great money for posting one little picture and a short paragraph. I think You are right, the system needs to be redesigned for great content.

We are very far away from quality content. The closest reference point for quality content is Medium. Few content creators here can make the cut though. Not many Medium posts with semi hot girls displaying tits on travel.

That's actually a good thing. Easier to stand out here if you write something decent.

The algorithm is unfortunately stacked against good quality content. Wealth inflation is what counts in the current version of the algorithm.

I never said the system needed to change. Maybe add a few things here and there like an official Steemit curation team or something, but forget about a redesign.

What I recommend is to use the system in its current form to your advantage. I think I'll make it the topic of my next post.

Me 3

I wrote for YEARS on various platforms and not so much as a tumbleweed blew by to take a shit on my tens of thousands of words that I carefully crafted into hobo-esque scrap-metal word-sculpture masterpieces like this one.

That is some funny crap right there! This entire post was like a Steemit bit in a stand up routine. If there can be irony inception this post is like three or four layers deep. I am still laughing. All my posts are shit. It is hilarious.

Thank you. I also like this. If I told you how many times I've actually read it you'd think it was an egomaniac or something. Can't have that

I think you can have a steemit account that generates good income without being famous, that is, without knowing your face, you just have to be consistent with the quality content.

Persistence is the first step; nobody's becoming famous overnight without effort or lots of money

So the really important question here is how the fuck much did you really spend on uproots for this post?

This is how the world goes round. Just undressed a little. It's hard for me to tell if things are getting better or worse on steemit.

Adsactly is of the worst on this list in my opinion.

Damn, you are right

Kool PhUKin' rAnT......... the comments are even better! Enjoyed.

Well done. The average content on any post on Steemit is on average total shit.

There is no quality curation.

I go to Medium when I want to read moderately well written insightful articles on interesting topics.

I come to Steemit to watch a bunch of school children engaged in food fights. It gets old fast.

Just for the lack of advertisers Steem is worth it to me. Personally I hate the way content is currently monetised on the Internet and because I'm a firm believer in "be the change you want to see in the world" I've embraced Steem to support reducing the power of advertisers. It's still early days and there is clearly a bit of a gold rush going on right now but if I look at the long term trajectory I much prefer where Steem is heading than the direction we're heading with advertisers in charge.

Steem is having growing pains (understandably) but it's not alone, just look at all the Youtube demonetisation drama on a platform which still to this day isn't profitable. And then there's the insane amount of advertising in Instagram for which there is no content creator cut at all—you need to build an audience and then monetise them yourself. I much prefer Steem's approach and so that's why I support it.

self vote for visibility

you need to build an audience and then monetise them yourself.

EXACTLY!!!!! This is what the SMT is going to create. It will prevent censorship being the reason people lose millions of views, and being demonetized.

That's what I project will send the STEEM to the moon. People don't say that much anymore; but, if the SMT is a success, it's going to build entrepreneurs in ways other platforms have not...decentralization, with the NSFW label protecting the community from posts for adult-audiences only.

I'm with you on the advertising. It's not effective when forced on viewers. But, I do think there's a way that members of the community will be able to buy/sell advertising between 'channels' for lack of a better word.

Peace.

I agree with that. Thanks for your perspective.

I didn't like it at first either, but then I realized paying bots for votes is like real life where you pay someone to advertise your product. Even if it doesn't sell, it increases your reputation and voting power for future endeavors, so nothing is really lost.

I guess it doesn't feel like advertising to me because they don't have a good or service they're selling, they just want to build an engaged audience. I see it more akin to investing. If people are willing to invest to get more people to read their content and find their audience that seems like a fair exchange.

paid botting services aren't advertising? If trending is only possible by using those paid botting services, doesn't that make trending just an advertised page?

transitive properties! woot woot! A = B, and you know B = C. That's just basic. But now you can't deny A = C. Science.

How can you say it lacks advertisers? Everyone is advertising something. Everyone is pushing their own brand. There are hardly any public good posts. None of them ever reach the trending page.

quality =/= advertising

there is no filter for quality posts, just number of votes and rewards

I can only speak for myself, but the content I post I do because I think it's useful or interesting for others. I'm not advertising or trying to become a brand... that just seems weird and I've not yet felt like posts I'm reading are advertising to me. Generally I rarely go to trending, I've found content creators I like and want to support and so I rarely venture far from my own feed and mostly rely on resteems of the people I already follow for finding new people (also I check the feed of people I follow to help find more people to follow).

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It seems to mostly be regular people advertising their own works and that is WAY better than constant big corporate garbage being shoved down your throat, even mid song/mid sentence, popping overtop of imagery that is part of what you are actuallly trying to look at.

I have not been here for long and it didn't take me long to see that it's way to early to put a ton of effort into really involved posts. I'm a busy person with a lot going on, and my time is valuable.

So I do everything I can to make quality posts that are hepful and enjoyable for others because I want to see the world change for the better... And I have also begun adding some of my other ventures and products at the end of most of my posts, because I can. I have absolutely no problem with it if people are not interested in them, but they can't know if they are if they can't see them. I feel they are worthy of views, so I multi-task.

Everything I do is from a desire to see the world be a nicer place, rather than continuing to watch it going in the direction it has appeared to be going in for such a long time. Therefore I have absolutely NO issues with offering things I have created, making them available to people. If someone can't afford it or it isn't their 'thing', and just want to read a post, I am more than happy to have them read my posts! That is why I write them, for people to read, (or imagery for them to look at). I'll work on the more deep topics with details when I have people actually looking at them.

I don't even mind if someone has a vote worth $0.00 because really for me, it's the thought and the energy of appreciation that matters. But I also have a family to take care of, so of course I will advertize my own things in any way I see fit. I also like seeing what others are doing that I can't find in stores.

We need to be doing things for ourselves to change trajectory. I want a big audience, of course. But I also want the right audience... people who actually care about thinking, and care about the world around them. And hey, if I get a lot or a little, great either way I'll add it to my resources for acheiving my goals. Our only worth is not dollars. Money is a tool. That's it. Our veiw of it has been programmed and skewed from day one for the benefit of those who have conquered the world by force. Time to wakey wakey! Being authentic is the only way to change the paradigm and if we don't change it the children will be fucked. It's that simple. People who do 'public good' also need to eat.

I also get a lot of the points made by the OP (some very good humor in there), I see it too. Ya work with what you've got. That's all anyone can do. There are many paths. I have no issue with paying for advertizing... manipulation by YT , Google, and FB to make it hard to see what was once easy to find, so people are forced to buy ads, that is BS. I'm older than the OP so I remeber what the internet was like before all of this greedy shit took over. Before agenda 21 became so obvious.

I'll be honest here, when I read the unfuckers announcement from aggroed I was a bit in an eye-rolly mood because it sounded like some people were a bit into some magical healing crystals or something, but you seem alright. I shouldn't be so quick to judge. Permaculturing is dope too. I hope you make waves here and elsewhere.

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

I'm sure there's plenty of healing crystals and magical thought around the Unfuckers Unite group (guilty, heehee), Someone in silicone valley knows that crystals hold information.. however it's mostly just a group of people who all have different approaches to finding practical solutions to some pretty crazy things going on in the world!

The name Unfuckers stuck because of a comedy show with a woman who sang about the world being fucked up and full of a lot of "fuckers" --and that what we need in the world was "Unfuckers" which was discussed in one of @daniarnold's shows a couple of years back. @daniarnold is a very scientific minded person who looks into a lot of real subjects and find a lot of "woo" taking place! She's one of the most real people I've seen doing alternative type investigating and discussion in a long time on the internet. Without looking into the topics we were not taught about in school, we are unlikely to find solutions to the same problems that have been plaguing humanity for ages, while we've been trained by the slave owners about how and what to think. Gotta think outside the box, AND work on the everyday normal things at the same time.

We all roll eyes at something, it happens! Lol. Like many others, I am just doing what I can do rather than focusing on what I can't do in a world run by mad people. Permaculture allows US to turn food into a weapon instead of allowing it to continue to be used against humanity. Thank you @charitybot for sharing your thoughts with me, and for the well wishes! :)

The concept for Steemit is great, but it seems like the programming is now etched in stone and nothing will change but the way people hustle the system and/or police the hustlers. Ultimately the problems will be solved by another site and Steemit will fail. Myspace ---> Facebook. Steemit was revolutionary, time will tell if it is a revolution or just another footnote.

I don't even read trending pages. They are all garbage

I just gave you an organic upvote...you're welcome

Money can't buy you love

Take my $0.07 and stfu!!!

Dude this is my favorite “real” submission on this platform. I mostly use this for dMania & Zapl now to post bullshit memes that make me laugh and hopefully make .10 when 2 people upvote me. Yet I have almost 900 followers.

I love this site. I just don’t like how it functions.

Take my $0.07.... hilarious! Thanks for making me smile!

Ahhh that warms my icy heart

Your writing style is great by the way. Engaging to read. Your article was too long by a factor of 2X, but you got wound up on your rant and apparently couldn't wind down in reasonable number of paragraphs.

Honestly I could have kept going

Glad you showed restraint. It was too long as is.

20 separate posts, all rolled into one.

Brother from another mother, this is actually the FIRST full post I read on Steemit, so congrats, but I'm sure you don't give a shit. On the other hand, its a pretty good compliment. Why did I read it, because you do something most people don't understand, and that is write, without giving a shit about what people think. Thats our website approach as well. People don't understand that NO MATTER WHAT YOU WRITE, there will be people who think it sucks, and people who think its great. That said, being authentic is what sticks, and that is how you get your point across. People are worried about BEING SO FUCKING NICE on here, and not to piss anyone off, is just shit for this community. But it is what it is. I think you are a gangster, and this post should go viral on Steemit, not this other bullshit. I think my shit is more interesting than some Italian poem that makes no sense and made hundreds. Once again, great freaking post, you are a good dude. Follwed / Upvoted and Resteemed.

You could be my friend

@yallapapi did you really drop $ 800 on this post? Why is it "only" $ 291.68 then?
I read that posts could lose money when they are downvoted but I don't really understand how that system works.
It can't possibly be that you lost $ 500+ because of downvoting/flagging, right?

Not sure if I was downvoted or if I just fucked up when using the upvote bots. I spend $200 SBD, which I rounded up to $800 USD. I'll end up getting back $145 SBD and around 42 SP. So total I'm down roughly $10 SBD. Not a huge deal, just need to be more careful when using the bots is all.

Shit.
I never thought i would read today the exactly same thing i was thinking for almost all the afternoon.

I know you already a lot of reward from your paid upvotes, but please, have my 0,03 cents.

See, that is the exact thing i noticed, not a long time after i joined here.

Basically, there is 3 types of voters (excluding the bid bots and some actually good curation guilds)

  • the selfupvoting whales (gotta have a ROI!)
  • the begging crowd (please sir, i vote you, you vote me)
  • the positivity circlejerk club (Steem is wonderful! everyone here is happy! lets vote everyone!!!! vote me too because i am a positive person!)

And i think the last one is the one i despise most....

It all seems so fake... everyone is happy, everything is flowers. Besides the infinite amount of posts praising Steemit as the holy grail of social media, the "everything is wonderful" posts are the worst.

Don't take me wrong. Positivity is a good thing. Fake forced positivity is shit.

To me, personally, i like steemit because it gave me back a long desire to write.

If people like what i write and vote it, wonderful! If not, well, i can always buy upvotes.

But developing my writing is what actually is keeping me around.

Thank you sir, for this amazing wonderful post! i vote and follow, pleas vote and follow back /s

cause Steemit is a livestreamed blackmirror episode. It's what happens when people only do things for money

Buying upvotes has its place. Will go over it in another post.

Hard to be negative in a place where pissing someone off means a flag, which means less earnings.

Indeed. I use bid bots. But how not to when you want visibility on your post, and you have to compete with all other shit posts? Unfortunately, it is what it is.

The positivity i see looks more like begging for upvotes than fear of being flagged.

If you have fear of the flags, just dont say anything.

You have collected your daily Power Up! This post received an upvote worth of 0.29$.

In 2016, I joined Toastmasters to get back into public speaking after living under a rock too long. I left Toastmasters because they were so frigging happy slappy. Rhetoric? No. It was upbeat life coaching and puppies. I talked about the effects of gunfire near my home––people started reaching for the sugar-coated donuts.

amen. pump this post to 800+

genius post indeed

I completely agree with you on this matter. If posts make to the trending and hot page depending on their payout value instead of the quality of post then most of the good authors are soon gonna lose interest in producing quality content on steemit blockchain. Because most of them can't afford to pay 200-300 SBD's to upvoting bots to make their posts reach the hot and trending page. I also use upvote bots but I can't afford to pay 100-200 SBD's for a single post of mine, which means there is no chance for my posts to make to the trending page unless I buy massive upvotes from upvoting bots. If anyone gets offended by my comment then I'm sorry. But whats true is true.

pay 100-200 SBD's for a single post

Are you serious?! I thought something 'shady' was going on in Shadyville. Perhaps, this explains a post I wrote recently. Here's the link:

https://steemit.com/blog/@spiritualmatters/a-peak-into-a-bot-fan-s-wallet-has-me-asking-are-you-serious

Peace.

Sorry I didn't get your point. I read your post but I could not catch it that how does that relate to what I said,

I can't afford to pay 100-200 SBD's for a single post of mine

I know you have some point in it but I am unable to understand it. Can you make it clear for me.

Yes..Maybe, I misunderstood; but are you saying that you'd have to PAY bots ~100 USD for trending?

Recently, I learned that the huge payout amounts listed aren't actually going 100% to the payees. The money tossed at buying votes is really growing the bot developers more than the people putting cold cash on the table.

I could be wrong; but, based on what I observed in the Wallet, the payout amount isn't really landing in the user's account. I deliberately didn't name this person; but, if I'm wrong, I stand corrected.

I hope this helps.

Peace.

Thank you for clearing it. Now I got it. Yes you are right most of the people who use biding bots don't even know how that stuff works. That's the reason for their loss. But those who know the algorithm of biding bots, they are still getting profits by using them. I have recently made a post about discussing how the upvote biding bots work, here is the link. Check it out sometime, its in detail.

how the upvote biding bots work, here is the link

Great! I will give it a look!

Peace.

In our day and age, people work pretty much like this:

They hear something is hot stuff, so they join to be a part of it

They see cool shit, so they praise it for being cool

They feel when something makes them happy, they are rewarded and reward it back to get more of that dopamine (circlejerks, echo chambers, or something along those lines).

They think in simple terms, since most people are not geniuses or want to be fully informed of something before taking initiative.

In all the above cases, what they need is an incentive to motivate them.

I used to pay all the SBD I was making to bots, so I could increase my voting power. I wasn't interested in cashing in on them. I stopped once SBD dropped from 12 to 3 and now farm like a slug. I didn't lose any money or win any money... yet. But I am still here, since even a few cents every day are more than nothing for the stuff I write every day.

60 votes and no comments on the 17 minutes mark, strange. you are right about using antagonism and criticism to get exposure, and I'm sure you're pretty experienced with that technique. so I'm upvoting to front-run your post ;)
I di have some qualms with your article though. why do you assert that Steemit staff is upvoting staff-related content un-proportionately? can you back this claim up? also, there seems to be a lot of self-aggrandizing in your text. why do you believe that you alone (on part of your "intelligence") can judge the quality of posts correctly? I absolutely agree that price is not the only predictor of a quality, but at the same time, Steemit is about letting the market do its thing. here I'm more libertarian than I usually am. also, nobody liked flags but they don't terrify me because I understand the risk of creating or the risk of doing anything. Steemit is incomplete, as I see it, and with bots being a great tool for promotion they also look like the bane of this platform. so, in my mind, there is improvement to be made (obviously) but my experience here has been relatively positive. I started with nothing. 0 money down. and I've made some, not a huge, profit and that makes me hopeful at least.

DYOR brother, don't take my word for it.

No offense but fuck your meager profits. None of us are here to make $0.10 an hour. I'd rather make nothing.

Paid upvotes baby. If you're a decent writer and have the balls to "put your money where your mouth is" so to speak, then you'll get the recognition you deserve. If not, you'll be surprised how quickly you improve...or run out of money.

Okay, so, a couple of things, and granted, I’ve only been here a month:

  1. This whole business about being a hot girl and being successful for it—I am a woman, and as far as I know, I haven’t benefited from it financially at all. The only time anyone has ever mentioned it to me is a couple of times that people have told me that I’ll somehow have a leg up for it. That implies to me that there’s actually a slight disadvantage to being a woman because of the perception that there’s somehow an unfair advantage. (That would be totally unsurprising since that is the case in general in life.) It could possibly be the case in a couple of isolated instances in certain corners of the site that tend to be more male dominated, but in the communities I’ve been involved in, it hasn’t been.

  2. I’ve never purchased an upvote (unless you count enrolling in #steembasicincome, which brings in about a cent a day). I have written content that I’ve put a lot of time into, and it’s paid off in certain cases. I’ve developed a small but engaged following who have helped me find an audience. I got picked for curie a couple posts back, which brought in a nice chunk of change. I’ll admit that there’s a ton of crap on here and that some of it is (or at least appears to be) very lucrative, but it’s not something you have to engage in to be successful.

Send pics, and we will be the judge of "hot or not"

(Case in point.)

Curie/OCD are some of the few curation efforts aimed at material on the site not connected to apps, and they're woefully underfunded compared to their app-related kin.

And being a woman who marketed herself as such has clearly paid dividends to those who got in early.

I won't name any names, but their content definitely has a high variance in quality, and some are much more consistent in knowing the material they're talking about, and some don't really talk about anything at all.

I took this string of comments as inspiration and looked at some of the available numbers to see if this is indeed the case, and did a quick write up on it, if you're interested. Tl;dr: By the metrics I looked at, even when you control for the high male-to-female ratio on Steemit, women are underrepresented among the most successful users on the site. But I was only able to use certain data points and you'd have to look at other metrics as well and insert some controls if you wanted to do a thorough study.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in how I worded my comment, but if we assume none of the devs were female, none of the original shadow-miners were female, and that it's quite possible that investment in steem reflects investment in crypto in general as far as fewer women investing big, I was saying that the numbers you're looking at makes it look like they're underrepresented, but we have to look at how a lot of those people got their initial momentum to see more of the picture. I guess we can go and see how many of the early users who weren't part of the pre-mine actually bought steem and powered up vs getting their initial posts voted on.

Oh, and we can see a clear bias as far as who got those fat, controversial delegations from steemit inc. Not downplaying the effort the real ones put in.

I hear you, and if you look at my methodology, I actually took those factors into account and controlled for them as best I could. I started off by giving men a 5-to-1 starting advantage based on Alexa statistics for the demographics of Steemit as a whole. I also looked at two metrics--follower counts, and author rewards. While both of those things are of course impacted by Steem Power, I felt that author rewards would be the more valuable metric because it would have to come from user generated content.

Bots are not selling only upvotes, I guess they are increasing the reputation of author also.

Hahahaha honest, straight to the point and funny. Regardless of the platform, money can buy praise singers. Welcome to the 21st century, where money or brain power can produce bots and inflate money and traffic. I wonder if I have to teach my kids one day to filter out the noise.

If you're smart, you will teach them to be too busy creating according to their gifts, and investing their income wisely, instead of time wasted on the zero-valued nonsense currently fogging the brains/minds of too many.

Peace.

Don't hate the player, hate the game

I read the whole thing, and all I can say is: well damn! Reading this post was like licking cake batter right out of the mixing bowl. This just highlights some of what I'd been hearing in the ether. How many of you reading this will take appropriate action?

source

I read the whole thing too, a rarity on steemit.

Never expect people to take action. We're here to entertain, nothing else.

Great post ! Now here is a picture of an older man wearing a walmart bag.

Somebody give this asshole a medal. This is probably the most honest thing i've seen on here.

A medal? I was thinking a crown and scepter...

Sounds like the hard truth. I'm going to think again what I have been doing here. I enjoyed reading your post.

My upvote is worth about .006, but you got it!! LOLOLOLOLOL I enjoy reading angry rants from people who know the difference between your and you're.

Also, even if you use bots with fake internet money to make fake internet money you are still making fake internet money. And that is better than what I get paid from Facebook and Twitter (0.00 and counting) for my 12 years of posting there.

Geez! This is crazy! I really like your honesty. Definitely resteeming this.

I'm not much of a writer but was excited about steemit as well. I am quickly finding it is quite a circle jerk. I bet another social crypto comes out that is better.

Really hope so. Remember me if you find one.

I complain loudly about how shit everything is because I want the platform to be better, sadly though I agree with what you think, vested interests and people who don't know how social media, human psychology and marketing works together are guiding the place into an early grave when we consider the resources that must be available to our potential competitors.

another social crypto

Steemit is the blog/vlogging platform. STEEM is the crypto of which you speak; and, is doing quite well on the various platforms it recognizes.

Peace.

And here I am, still trying to write quality (Brief, tough) posts.

I suppose I really am that stupid.

Self-awareness is the first step

people like being cursed at fyi

This is one post I actually read all the way through! Bravo 👏 👏👏

hahah wow this is gold. It gets more and more cynical the way down, but dude you are so right about the circle jerking. I think you, I, and everyone else needs to use our flag button more.

Thanks for this. I'm new and was invited here to join "the community" and as an alternative to other forms of social media. And since I came for that primarily and have been hoping for great content, more connection with others, and of course, for people to see, vote, and comment on my posts. (Not so much for money--just having the discussions or knowing that folks consider my work valuable is enough.) I've been pretty disheartened by what I've seen so far, and much of what you wrote above resonates with me.

But I'll give it some more time. I get paid for my work elsewhere (both my photography and my writing), so I'm not so interested in the money part of things (other than the fact that it shows how much "people" theoretically value my posts).

I was excited by steem at first but the sheen of steem was diminished when I got downvotes for commenting on someone's post who someone said was "raping the reward pool." I was like WTF?? So now it is bad to upvote posts that older than 3.5 days? Someone else was saying it was bad to vote for posts at 30 minutes after they are published. jeez All these 'social rules' are hard to keep up!

Trending pages are full of shit, that's right.
But I get inspired from our community that is trying their best to help others and Steemit gives many a possibility to gather funds to make a living.

It is hell and heaven at one place.

Is there anyone reading this who has made decent money on steemit who has used other formulas?

Either be a dev or someone else in on the early shadow mine, be an early adopter with deep pockets who bought before or after the 2016 boom/bust cycle, or work your ass off for about two years non-stop with little cashing out to approach a level of wealth that still pales in comparison to the original core steem holders.

You got a 60.97% upvote from @upmewhale courtesy of @yallapapi!

Damn. This is a bold post...I like it! Following now, ha! As a newcomer to Steemit, I'm seeing many of the things you have stated and will be doing my damnedest to thrive here.

Hopefully you will use such ridiculous images in the post.

Very nice and funny post. I'm new here and still trying to get the hang of things. Hopefully i can make my way without paying for votes.

Excuse me but.. are you me...? Cuz you've read my mind...

Yes sir, skip ad

wait you mean i wont get ahead if i keep posting quality content day after day?!!? what am i doing here?!?!!

at least i've made some friends along the way.

Guess we're all just making friends on the shared basis of needing money.

totally! it's not a bad way to do it @charitybot :)

I had a great laugh reading this! Like they say, humour has its roots in the truth. A lot of your criticisms are correct but we may see the upcoming communities functionality fix some of the visibility issues. From what “they” mentioned in “the video” it may just be sanctioned circle jerking. At least in a proper circle jerk everyone wins.

i love this read.

Don't lie, clickbait title+"counterculture" post+big bot votes just means you predicted the price of steem and SBD would rise by the time of post payout. For your sake I hope you're right.

LOL I wish.

Yours is a good rant. I believe you used all of the appropriate terms to qualify you to be on the trending page for a day or two. There are a couple of women here that use their feminine wiles. Most of the time, I get the idea if you can speak code, like in computer language then you are automatically in the club. Since it’s doubtful you’ll read this, there seems little point of continuing.

that was a good read. I'm new to steemit, I like the things you pointed out as I had seen some of the same trending posts and went WTF. I know there has to be ways to make it happen, I'm learning. One thing I'm getting get at is spotting when someone does great work but should split the post in two. You'd do better and keep more readers til the end-- Nice to meet you! Melissa :)

Promises,Promises. I like every post .

By the way you should check out @steemfreelancers...............

Love this post! Not sure if you are for or against Steemit but the truth is real and is what I am looking for on this platform. It seems that you are saying that it almost like advertising whereby you have to spend money and do some other trickery to get your posts out in front of people who may upvote it, and it is possible to make money on the platform if you are willing to spend money to do so. Am I right on this or am I even close?

who sadly think that if they just work at it long enough, if they contribute enough "quality content" to the system, if they're just patient enough, if they just give it enough time, if they just comment enough on other posts, if they just give selflessly without thinking about what they'll get in return, that someday they'll also see dollar signs and triple digits at the bottom of their posts.

Well shit you have dashed my hopes and dreams .....

I have found some good content creators on this site, but it really needs a better way to search and filter for what I am looking for.

A. I don't speak or read anything other than English (some would argue I suck at that too) but if a post isn't in English I don't want to see it, I cant contribute to it, but I cant filter it out either.

B. Photography, most of the time I could care less about your picture. Can I filter those out of the new or hot or trending sections? nope

C. I want to find a community (I guess like subreddits) where I can marinate with people who are all talking about the topic that I want to talk about at that time. It has been very hard to find people to follow that are producing content that I want to read. I know I can search for a # but that usually is so cluttered with people who tagged it in their post because it would get seen by more people.

D. I guess what I am saying is, I wish I could get paid for posting on Reddit ............. ..

A. Imagine how shit the website is if you don't speak english, lol.

B. Yeah. Might be addressed with the next fork.

C. Communities are coming soon.

D. You can get paid for posting on reddit, if you were good enough at it people would have contacted you about it.

tagged it in their post because it would get seen by more people.

People are hesitant to report such; but, it's certainly one of the few rule breakers should you encounter this.

The advantage over Reddit is that Steemit is free to join, and allows users to invest in crypto without coming out of pocket.

Many have gotten rich with BTC by coins they've earned in STEEM.

Niches exist on the platform. When you find a blogger whose work you find worth reading, be sure to follow. This will allow you to receive their posts in your feed; and, read comments from their blog page as well.

Best regards!

Peace.

yallapapi,

A very creative and thought provoking post.

Having said that, there is a difference between believing and knowing.

I know my content is very good, sometimes great. Whether you upvote it or not, doesn't change the fact that it is great content. Even if my post affects one reader, or viewer, and I've helped them in one form or another, or even made them stop and think for a moment, I feel great.

I make money already in my other businesses and I love the steemit community because it is decentralized, self-policing, and like a baby, just starting to grow. Will it be the next YouTube, Twitter? Is that the question we should ask ourselves? I don't personally want steemit to be a clone, I want it to be what ever it becomes and I am glad I am part of the community.

Thanks for writing this post.

The point is not whether or not it's good. The point is, does anyone know who you are because you wrote it?

Fuck helping one person bro, that's some weak ass shit right there. One person? Go help your kids man. We write on the internet to be able to reach millions of people.

If you've got money from other businesses and are confident in your writing them I recommend you drop a couple dozen SBD on your next post, pay for a few resteems and try to reach more people.

That's the post I've been looking for. The truth is naked now... Thx!

Thumbs up, to your post @yallapapi.
Followed you straight away.

Fuck, only second place? God damn I don't even want to think about how much I spent on this...

how much did you put down tho really if you don't mind? are you in the green or negative?

Good @yallapapi.

I truly appreciate your honesty @yallapapi. Everything you wrote here is absolutely true. This platform has a lot of positive sides and some drawbacks as well. Capitalism is present here in this community whether we ljke it or not.

This is the most brutally honest piece of writing I've ever read. I like your honesty. I'm 23, and already burnt out of three years of studying at the varsity for a shit degree. Fuck! I want to be rich.

This paragraph nailed me: "I'm done. If I believed that intelligent people upvoted this because they thought it was entertaining, high quality or valuable beyond a moderate ego boost to the person it's written about, I'd lose even more faith in humanity."

Damn. You're what I don't know. Fuck!

Thanks to the money you sank into resteeming bots, for this is how I came across this post. You've been added to my Hall of Fame.

By the way, do I want this comment upvoted? Fucking yes! But you don't lose your sleep at night if you don't upvote, for I would never come across this without stopping to say, "hello, bro. You're a loved motherfucker!"😂

Keep being like this. Certainly, being one of the "good" guys around here won't do you no good!

Peace!

Thank you brother

Saludos, que articulo tan maravilloso, mas claro imposible, tenemos que conservar la ética de steemit, éxitos.

good post brother, I invite you to know my blog

Well written. It sounds like you know that though. That's not a jab. I'm just restating what you wrote in your article and at the same time telling you good job.

I appreciate the text. I hate that everything is on video. To watch a video in public I either have to put on headphones and block myself off from the world or I get to be one of those assholes that makes everyone around them listen to whatever is playing on their phone.

There are some people doing decent writing. It's amateur but it's ok. Sometimes it's about the pictures too. I like checking out other people's silver or reading about what some everyday people think about crypto coins to invest in (because I have no idea).

I know what you mean though. I weed through garbage to get to the gems. I thought the garbage posts would eventually get weeded out by the system. I don't know what to do about the bots. If they are cheating the system and making the platform crap I think they should go.

I follow people that produce content I like. They don't all have fame or fortune but I look at some of those too. I make my own feed give me the content that I want and I'm constantly looking for new people to follow. I try to give my upvotes to people whose content I look at the most and at the same time balance with upvotes to the new guy's posts. I want to encourage the new people that are trying.

I feel like I'm a little new here to have a strong opinion about anything but it sounds like something needs to be done. If something can reduce the spammy content I'm all for it. I personally am guilty of joining photo contests that I later realized I might be hugely underqualified for. Maybe someone thinks what I put out is garbage. Who knows.

Yes, I do know it's good. But thanks anyway.

As for competing in a contest that you feel you're underqualified for, that is not bad in and of itself. If you believe that your submission is quality and worth something, then it's all gravy.

This is the funniest thing I've read since I first started scratching my head at this place, wondering where the fuck all this quality content was. I actually finally found some and my feed is pretty good now. I LOL'd at "Just your typical $0.01 upvote-hunting Pakis with their colorless, oxygen-wasting words." I can't get through most comments without screaming into a pillow in my best Samuel L. Jackson voice: "English Motherfucker! Do you speak it?"

You are very unique. You may not read everybody's comment here. It's just that you have your own way of selling yourself which is a good thing. Got a lot of comments out there huh. Freaking awesome I want to follow hahahaha

I'm vain. I read all the comments

@yallapapi - Bravo my man! Tell us how you really feel! Just kidding... this was pretty damn good writing. Great literary- concept & delivery. Wish I would've though of it first.
I don't know if you ordered some bots, but I do see some voting for you now!! Hey man, you gotta cash in when your hot...

Anyway great post, keep it up... upvoted, followed & resteemed.

Lolololololololol. #preachit
Not like anyone really understands quality anymore anyways...

You may have forgotten one category: if you're an attractive female, you can post to dTube and are pretty much guaranteed revenue.

Crypto-currency and Government Control…

what if you're a pimp and have many females to post on Dtube?

Bruh, Steemit now is upvote buying galore. Gain the followers that have a decent amount of SP and post your shit. What's the point of writing great content if you don't get rewarded and then get discouraged when you see a shit post gaining 500.

Loved every word of it! I knew there was something wrong, this sounded too good to be without a downside. But I won't give up yet.

I appreciated the post, but it's rather defeatist, don't you think? How about a proposed solution? Any thoughts on that?

Well my esteemed friend @yallapapi. First of all, I have to say I didn't know about your existence on steemit previously. And knowing it now has been quite an interesting and enriching experience.

However, I have 'bad news' for you mate...

Simply by the fact of all the crap you've stated on this post and for every dungy treasure to read and enjoy that you have offered us through all these links above toward your previous crap... I have no choice now but cheerfully follow you like the fellow outcast that you are. So do not miss out on your next material.

And what is even worse, I will upvote this post at 100% of my VP to elevate it till the pinnacle of the trending pages. And certainly, I will also resteem it just to add, if at all, a handful of pairs of eyes more to your message through my rickety number of followers. So, that none of them can escape to be also splashed by the brown dusky eloquence of your swamp.

But more than anything and above all, in gratitude for the fabulous amount of time you saved me to not try write myself a fulminant epic raving rant like this for long time. }:)

¡Thank You!

So, what do you really think, Captain Obvious? LOL. Of course, you're right. In the areas of Reddit and Quora I hang out, contributors produce quality or sink to the bottom. The communities there are rough on people who pollute the space with no-value posts. Since half the people on the trending page here can barely write in English, it's fair to assume their fans can't read in English either.

Still, there are some good curation efforts, so some of us just contribute when we feel like it and let the digital chips fall as they might. When I want to make sure I can get paid to write, I work for clients with credit cards.

Writing skill has a rough correlation with payouts amongst early adopters, but it's mostly about money recognizing money and people voting on each other as such.

Waw oo i got it

I thought I was the only one with this impression. Haven't even been here a full month and i'm already tired of hearing about "posting quality content" when no one bothers to read it anyway.

You are speaking the truth!!! The reason I started on Steemit was to make some money. I knew I wasn’t a writer, because if I was I would have been writing by now. I bought into the idea but now I relies that I probably won’t make much at all. I’ll keep at it and see where it takes me, because some of the stuff I post is better than the crap I do see on here.

You sir are a HERO lmao

I was literally dying reading this. Man, I've been so tempted to write this exact article for months now, but figured I'll just play the game and avoid any flags lol.

Love the originality and straight up savergry my friend. Thanks for laying out the path to stardom lol

Don't worry, you resisting the temptation to be a pussy for long enough to write a similar article would have been met with barely a whisper unless you have some whale-sized benefactors or were willing to put up the same amount of cash.

Well. That was depressing. I guess I'll just have to wait for another platform that rewards good content to come along...
