A small tip for Steemit beginners (like myself) to get more payouts and followers.

in steemit •  7 years ago

This is something that many of us overlook when we start posting on Steemit.
As a matter of fact, even on other such websites which have the 'followers' feature.

You must be tired of reading tips like 'the content is what matters' or 'focus on improving your content and you'll start earning a lot eventually' or even 'the number of followers doesn't matter'.

Bullshit.

Opening Rant (oh boy)

Content doesn't help you earn fame. It helps you maintain it. And you can't maintain no fame, when you haven't earned it in the first place!

Remember those initial posts that you created, filled with great content, where you put so much effort and gave it your all, hoping knowing you'd get recognition and will be able to start on your path of becoming a m/b/zillionare?
Remember how it just, didn't work?

Did you ever sit down and wonder why?

I'll tell you why.

In one word.

Actual Content (this isn't the word, silly)

Followers.

Yup.
The one thing that seems so useless.
In fact, the one thing that many of us think is useless.
And I'll be honest, I was like that too.

I used to wonder why people asked, almost begged, their audience to 'subscribe' to their YT channel, to 'like' their FB page and even to 'follow' them on Steemit.
Because followers.

So, what helps you "earn" fame?
Building a decent set of followers.

How?
What happens then is - you successfully create a decent enough set of audience who ensure that your post gets the exposure, the engagement and the payout that you expect!

The Steps (a.k.a but how do I do it)

You engage with the users.
Notice how I didn't say 'shamelessly DM your post's link to everyone on the planet'?
Engage, as in, actually have a conversation with people.

So,

  • Find and talk to people who have similar interests as to what your posts are about.
  • Have a conversation with them and if it goes well, share the link.

Now this is where the 'content' comes into play.

  1. If the content is good enough, they'll upvote and maybe even follow you.
  2. Otherwise, ask feedback from them and improve your content.

Repeat until m/b/zillionare.

Steemit Chat is a good place to build your networthwork. ;)
Just remember - don't be a di*k to whales.
In fact, to anyone actually.

Conclusion (bye bye, see you soon)

For some, this post may seem as obvious as daylight (waitwhat), but there are others who may have found it interesting almost to the point that they're now an enlightened sage.
Hehe.

Either way - build Followers, build Content, build Steemit!
All the best!

Hey there!
I agree, content is important. It achieves greater importance when you've a huge audience under your profile.
Thanks a lot for commenting and for resteeming, appreciate your support! :)

Great post my friend, this will surely help a lot of begginers :)

Thanks so much man, I hope it does! :)

Been here for a few days and you can already tell that content doesnt actually matter, its the people who follow you who upvote you in hopes of getting money from you

Sad truth.
However, there's also another set of followers, who are genuine and actually care about the material being posted. Let's all try to be in that group. :)
Do not stop giving out your best though, post great content and if recognized by a whale, your life would be set! ;)
Thank you for commenting! :D

Interesting, yeah i've been starting to notice that more and more being on this site. Thanks for the enlightenment ^_^

I'm glad you agree, enlightened one!
