Does anyone have a copy of the SteemIt Terms of Service prior to the hardfork fracas? I don't remember section 14.1.7 which reads:
14.1.7. Use our services to promote third-party platforms or to promote each other without our written permission.
This section makes little sense. This is how I interpret it: A website is a platform. A link to a web site is a promotion. This section says that we cannot have links to web sites in our posts without getting written permission from SteemIt.
I often put links in my SteemIt posts. That means I am in serious violation of the ToS.
The ToS says that we cannot "promote each other." That means I can't have links to other users inside of SteemIt without written permission. I guess this means that @ links to accounts and # links to tags are forbidden as well because these links "promote each other."
According to this section, I couldn't write the sentence "@steemitblog is hosting #the100daysofsteem ." That sentence promotes "each other"
The page says that the ToS has not been modified since June 15, 2018; So, I have been in violation of the ToS for some time.
I went to The Way Back Machine . Copies of the ToS on the Way Back Machine don't show this section of the ToS. The Way Back Machine seems to indicate that the ToS has been changed since June 15, 2018.
Ooops: I just realized that I violated the ToS.
The Way Back Machine is a platform. My link to the Way Back Machine is a promotion for a third party platform.
I failed to get written permission to include the link and am now in violation of section 14.1.7 of the ToS.
