Is Gender Equality as authentic as before?

If it was a white man, he could be in jail, if it was a black man, he could be dead, if it was a middle-east man (or dressed like so), it would be breaking news "Terrorist shot dead in a stadium". Is gender equality as genuine as it was 20 years ago or is it suppression of men?
